Hospital Geral Unimed receives high-precision surgical robot in Ponta Grossa
Hospital Geral Unimed receives surgical robot MicroPort MedBot 7 in Ponta Grossa and prepares first procedures for the coming weeks.

Unimed General Hospital in Ponta Grossa has received a new robotic surgery platform that promises to enhance the accuracy and safety of high-complexity procedures performed on Campos Gerais. The MicroPort MedBot 7 equipment arrived at the hospital last Monday and marks the official start of the institution’s robotic surgery program.
The technology is part of Unimed Ponta Grossa’s investment plan aimed at modernizing the hospital structure and strengthening minimally invasive procedures.
According to Unimed Ponta Grossa’s CEO, Dr. Pedro Moysés Jacintho, the arrival of the equipment represents a new advance in the assistance offered in the region, combining cutting-edge technological resources with humanized care.
Surgery with greater precision
The MicroPort MedBot 7 platform provides surgeons with high-definition three-dimensional vision, shaking filtering of the hands and articulated arms capable of performing movements with millimeter accuracy.
Among the expected benefits are less bleeding during the procedures, reduction in the period of hospitalization and faster postoperative recovery, depending on the type of surgery and the clinical conditions of each patient.
The program also provides for specific safety protocols, multiprofessional follow-up and training of cooperating physicians, following the standards established by the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM).
Technology Allows Remote Tracking
One of the differentials of the equipment is the possibility of using telesurgery and teleproctory resources, allowing experts to monitor and guide procedures remotely, in real time.
“We have developed our robotic surgery program fully focused on patient safety and the experience of who chooses the HGU. One of the great differentiators of this platform is the technology for telesurgery and teleproctory, which allows the guidance and remote monitoring in real time by experts from any part of Brazil or the world during the procedures”, says the technical director of HGU, Dr. Eduardo Bisinella.
According to Bisinella, the clinicians have already started a stage of intensive training on the console of the platform.
“This high technology works in perfect combination with the skill of the surgeon. The stage of intensive training on the console, initiated with our clinical body, will ensure that each phase of the journey, from pre-operative to post-operative, is conducted with the utmost technical rigor.”
First surgeries are expected in the coming weeks
Before the start of care, medical teams undergo practical training and simulations to use the platform.
The first procedures performed with the surgical robot at the Unimed General Hospital of Ponta Grossa are expected to be scheduled for the coming weeks.
The institution also reinforces the importance of prevention, periodic examinations and regular medical follow-up, especially in the specialties that may use the new technology.
