The Hospital Universitário de Ponta Grossa has partnered with the Institute of Technology of the Paraná (Tecpar) to develop and deploy a technological solution aimed at the modernization of processes related to the Unified Health System (SUS). The agreement was published in the Official State Gazette of Paraná on Thursday (10).

In accordance with the Technical and Institutional Cooperation Term No. 018, the initiative provides for the development, validation and implementation of a solution aimed at digital transformation and cognitive automation of activities related to the SUS hospital billing cycle.

The term is expected to last for 20 months and directly involves Tecpar and Hospital Universitário de Ponta Grossa. The document was formalized on September 8 and is signed by Tecpar’s CEO, Eduardo Marafon Silva, and Hospital Universitário de Ponta Grossa’s CEO, Fabiana Postiglione Mansani.

Technology applied to hospital management

The hospital billing cycle gathers the administrative procedures necessary to register and process the care provided by the SUS. The partnership foresees that part of these activities go through a process of digital transformation and automation.

The official publication, however, does not detail which technology will be used, which steps will be automated or when the solution will begin to effectively work within the hospital. There is also no financial estimate related to the project.

The expectation now is that new details will be presented by HU and Tecpar about how the tool will be developed and how the technology may change the administrative routine of the institution.

Cooperation will last 20 months

According to the Official Journal, the agreement will remain in force for 20 months. During this period, the institutions must go through the stages of development, validation and implementation of the technological solution.

The initiative places the Hospital Universitário de Ponta Grossa in a project aimed at using new technologies in SUS management and opens space for the use of automation in hospital administrative activities.
