A 19-year-old girl was rescued from a private prison situation in Ponta Grossa, in the Campos Gerais do Paraná, after her parents travelled more than 500 kilometers from São Paulo to the city of Paraná, as they were suspicious of the messages sent by her daughter. The victim's boyfriend, also 19, was arrested in flagrante on Wednesday night (21).

New details released on Thursday (22) reveal the scenario found by the teams at the time of the rescue. According to the information, the apartment where the young woman was was messy, and the victim showed several signs of aggression, including a purple eye, bruises in the other eye, marks on the breasts and injuries to the legs.

According to the young woman’s account, the injuries to her legs were caused by assaults with a broomstick.

Parents mistrusted messages and traveled to Ponta Grossa

Residents of the town of São Paulo, the young woman’s parents began to notice changes in the daughter’s behavior during the conversations. The messages were vague, with little information, and the young woman avoided showing her face in video calls.

The situation aroused suspicion in the family, who decided to go to Ponta Grossa without warning. Upon locating the boyfriend’s address, the parents asked for support from a team of the Municipal Civil Guard that was patrolling. The officers moved to the apartment and found the young woman in a situation of intense emotional shock, in addition to presenting several marks of violence by the body.

Victim reported constant assaults and threats

According to the Municipal Civil Guard, the young woman told that she had been kept in the property for about two weeks and that, during this period, she was assaulted frequently. According to the report, she suffered punches, slaps, kicks and blows with a broomstick.

In addition to the purple eye and bruises on the face, the victim also had marks on her breasts and legs. She also reported being hanged in one of the violence episodes and claimed that she had lost consciousness after head attacks.

According to the testimony, the boyfriend made death threats if she tried to ask for help, seek family or leave the apartment.

Police say suspect posed as victim

Another detail revealed by the Civil Police is that the suspect would have destroyed the cell phone of the young woman and placed her chip in another device to impersonate her in conversations with relatives.

The manipulation of the messages would have been a way to keep control over the victim and prevent the parents from discovering the real situation. Even so, the change in the young woman’s behavior was perceived by the family, which led the parents to go personally to Ponta Grossa.

Jealousy would have motivated the beginning of the prison

According to the delegate Claudia Kruger, the young woman reported that she had been in a relationship with the suspect for a few months and that the assaults began after a crisis of jealousy.

From that episode, the boyfriend would have stopped her from leaving the apartment, fearing that the injuries would be seen by others and result in a complaint.

The suspect has been arrested and the case is still under investigation.

After the rescue, the young man was arrested in flagrante and referred to the 13th Police Subdivision of Ponta Grossa. He was charged with the crimes of private imprisonment and bodily injury against a woman.

The Civil Police are still investigating the case. To date, there has been no public confirmation of the possible conversion of the flagrante prison into a preventive prison. The identity of those involved was not disclosed to preserve the victim.
