The orange storm alert in Ponta Grossa demands attention from residents on Sunday (11). The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) points to the possibility of heavy rain, gusts of wind that can reach 100 km / h and hailfall throughout the day.
The weather warning is classified as hazardous and also affects other regions of the Paraná. The instability has already marked the early morning of Sunday in different points of the State, with record of rain and atmospheric discharges mainly in the West, Southwest and Northwest regions.
According to the information related to the Inmet alert, the affected areas may experience intense rain, accompanied by strong winds and the possibility of hail. Among the main risks are flooding, fall of trees and branches, interruption in the supply of electricity and losses in agricultural areas.
Sunday will be rainy at Ponta Grossa
In addition to the orange storm alert in Ponta Grossa, the forecast of the Technology and Environmental Monitoring System of Paraná (Simepar) indicates a Sunday with a high possibility of rain in the municipality.
The chance of precipitation reaches 98%, while the accumulated forecast for the day is approximately 11.8 millimeters. Relative humidity levels should remain high, ranging from 91% to 97%.
Data recorded by the Simepar weather station on Sunday morning pointed to a temperature close to 16.5°C in Ponta Grossa, with a thermal sensation of 16°C.
The forecast maintains a scenario of mild temperatures throughout the day, accompanied by periods of rain and instability.
Strong winds and hail require attention
Although the rainfall forecast specifically for Ponta Grossa is lower than the maximum limit indicated by the weather alert for the affected areas, the warning should be considered mainly by the possibility of localized occurrence of storms.
Strong gusts of wind can cause trees, plates, structures, and loose objects to fall. In case of a storm, the orientation is to avoid staying in open areas or near trees and structures that may fall.
It is also recommended to avoid parking vehicles near transmission towers, advertising signs and trees during periods of intense wind.
