Inmet warns of storm with winds up to 100 km/h in Ponta Grossa
Danger warning is valid until 11:59 pm today (Wednesday, 30) and forecasts heavy rain and possibility of hail
Ponta Grossa is in the region covered by a storm warning from the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), classified with a degree of severity “dangerous”. The warning is valid until 23:59 this Wednesday (30) and points to the possibility of heavy rain, winds of up to 100 km / h and hailfall.
The area of coverage includes the Centro Oriental Paranaense, where the municipality is located, as well as other regions of the Paraná and neighboring states. The warning started at midnight on Wednesday.
According to Inmet, the forecast conditions can cause rain between 30 and 60 millimeters per hour, or accumulated from 50 to 100 millimeters throughout the day. Wind gusts can range from 60 to 100 km/h.
Among the risks indicated are interruptions in the supply of electricity, damage to plantations, fall of trees and flooding. The warning represents the possibility of these phenomena in the area covered, without indicating that all will occur in each municipality.
Care during wind gusts
Inmet advises the population to avoid sheltering under trees during gusts of wind, due to the risk of falling and electric shocks. It also recommends not to park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs.
Another guideline is to turn off electrical appliances and, if possible, the overall power supply. Measurement should be made only when there are safe conditions, avoiding contact with wet facilities or flooded areas.

Residents should be aware of the weather conditions and the directions of the emergency agencies during the validity of the warning. The reported risks require special attention in displacements and in places close to trees, structures that can detach and points subject to flooding.
