Ipiranga cancels birthday shows with Luan Pereira and Traia Véia due to rains

The City Hall of Ipiranga, at Campos Gerais, announced the cancellation of the concerts and events commemorating the anniversary of the city, which were scheduled for December 6, 7 and 8, 2026. The decision was communicated by the mayor Douglas Modesto, who justified the measure by the impacts of the intense rains associated with the phenomenon El Niño.

Among the planned attractions were the singer Luan Pereira, the band Traia Véia and the Gaúcho Ensemble. According to the mayor, the municipality had already signed contracts with the artists, but decided to redirect efforts and resources to actions considered priority, especially the recovery of rural roads.

In a video released to the population, Douglas Modesto highlighted that Ipiranga and other municipalities of the Association of Municipalities of Campos Gerais (AMCG) face difficulties caused by weather conditions, with damage to agriculture, access and infrastructure of rural communities.

"Everyone knows that Ipiranga, as well as the other municipalities in the region, is going through a lot of difficulty regarding the El Niño event. “A lot of rain damaging agriculture, damaging access and rural roads,” he said.

Municipality prioritizes recovery of rural roads

According to the mayor, Ipiranga decreed a situation of calamity in relation to the conditions of rural roads. The municipal administration also considers the forecasts of continuity of rainfall until the end of this year and the beginning of 2027.

In view of this scenario, the City Council decided, together with Defesa Civil, to concentrate the work on the recovery of the infrastructure and the most urgent needs of the population.

"We have made a joint decision, together with Defesa Civil, to focus our work here as a city hall on what is essential, on what is priority," Modesto explained.

The mayor also mentioned the opinions of Defesa Civil as factors considered for the cancellation of the festivities, including the traditional programming related to the patron saint of the municipality.

The shows were already hired.

Douglas Modesto confirmed that the City Hall had already signed contracts for the realization of the musical performances. With the suspension of the programming, the administration intends to direct the resources available to face the damage caused by the rains.

“We are now taking these resources and focusing all our work, energy and resources on recovering rural roads and on what is really essential and priority,” he said.

The move represents a change in the planning of Ipiranga’s anniversary celebrations this year. The city did not say if the shows could be rescheduled for another date.

Upon closing the statement, the mayor reinforced the commitment of the municipal administration to the recovery of the roads used by residents and rural producers.

"These events are cancelled and we will work hard to recover our rural roads."
