Joint action arrests two more accomplices in stealing R$5,000 from an elderly person in Castro

A joint action between the Civil Police of Castro and the Military Police – Team ROTAM – resulted, on the morning of Friday (11), in the preventive arrest of two men investigated for theft that occurred in Castro in July.

The 44- and 46-year-olds were arrested in the central region and also at Jardim Primavera, both in Castro. Both were sent to the penitentiary department, where they will remain in custody.

The Crime

The crime occurred on July 19, 2026, at around 6.30am, in the residence of the 81-year-old, located in the center of the municipality. On the occasion, the property was invaded after the break-in of the glass of the front window. The elderly man was caught in his bedroom and threatened with a knife by an individual who falsely claimed to have kidnapped his son, demanding the delivery of money under threat of death.

The robber subtracted the amount of R $ 5,000 and confined the elderly in the bathroom before escaping.

The direct perpetrator of the invasion was arrested in flagrante by the Military Police the following day (20/07/2026), in the city of Ponta Grossa. During the arrest, the police team seized part of the stolen money, the knife used, the clothes used in the action and portions of crack.

Deepening the investigations, the crossing of technological data and field diligences revealed an organized structure with precise division of tasks between the intellectual mentor, the facilitator and the executor.

The captured men were responsible for choosing the victim and arranging the crime. In the end, both would share the profit of the criminal enterprise.

The investigators already have convictions for the crimes of theft, illegal possession of firearms, home invasion, drug trafficking, reception and theft.
