Kalinoski Road remains flooded and changes waste route in Ponta Grossa
Flooding on Kalinoski Road after Tibagi River overflow changes waste route in Ponta Grossa

The flooding in the Kalinoski Road, in Ponta Grossa, caused by the increase in the level of Rio Tibagi, continues to affect the access used for the transport of waste collected in the municipality on Monday (14). With the road still taken by the water, the operation had to adopt an alternative route to ensure the continuity of the service.
Despite the logistical change, the garbage collection continues normally in the neighborhoods of Ponta Grossa, without change in the care of the population so far.
The main change happens after the trucks carry out the collection. Due to the conditions of the Kalinoski Road, the vehicles are forwarding the waste to the licensed transhipment unit of Zero Waste, located in the Industrial District.
Waste follows an alternative route
In the transhipment unit, the collected material is transferred to larger capacity trucks. After that, the wastes follow to the Waste Treatment Center (CTR) Vila Velha using a secondary access by PR-438.
The special operation was adopted to avoid interruptions as long as conventional access remains compromised by the waters.
According to the information on the operation, the alternative was previously used in similar situations, when the flooding of the Kalinoski Road made it impossible for heavy vehicles to pass through the stretch.
Rio Tibagi
The situation recorded on Monday is a consequence of the large volume of water accumulated after the rains of the last days.
The Rio Tibagi overflowed and hit areas near the Kalinoski Road, leaving stretches of the road flooded and without safe conditions for the passage of trucks that normally use access.
The situation also demands attention from drivers who circulate in the region, especially in stretches near low-lying areas and river banks.
Collection continues normally
Even with the change in the transport route, the population should not perceive change in the residential collection.
The trucks continue to run through the neighborhoods according to the usual schedule. The change occurs only at the later stage, when the waste needs to be forwarded to the final destination.
The operation must remain in this way while the Kalinoski Road is flooded.
If the water level causes new impacts or any change in the collection service in Ponta Grossa, new information should be disclosed.
