Klabin conducts planned test of the alert system at Harmonia Dam in Telêmaco Borba
The population does not need to perform any evacuation or relocation procedures, nor leave their homes or the locations where they are at the time of the test.

On Thursday (22), Klabin will conduct a scheduled test of the Harmony Dam sound alert system, a reservoir intended for water storage and water support of operations. During the action, the sirens installed in the industrial complex of Monte Alegre will emit a sound that will be perceived especially in the region of the neighborhoods Ana Mary, Macopa and Santa Rita, in Telêmaco Borba.
The population will not need to carry out any evacuation or displacement procedure, nor leave their residences or the places where they are at the time of the test, regardless of the orientations reproduced by the sirens during the simulation.
The action meets the guidelines of the National Dam Security Policy, governed by Federal Law No. 14.066/2020, and reinforces the non-negotiable value of the safety of people, the operations of the Company and neighboring communities. Predicted in the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) of the Harmony Dam, the test aims to verify the sound quality and the full functioning of the alert system intended to guide the population located in the Self-Rescue Zone (ZAS) in a possible emergency situation.
The EAP also includes communication procedures, evacuation routes and meeting points previously defined for the community. The structure of the dam is stable and secure, as attested by inspections and inspections in accordance with current legislation and best engineering practices, in addition to rigorous technical evaluations carried out by independent consultancies and specialized in this type of enterprise.
HISTORICAL
The preparation and guidance of the community are part of the ongoing actions related to the Harmony Dam Emergency Action Plan. In September 2023, residents of the neighborhoods located in the Self-Rescue Zone participated in a simulated evacuation exercise carried out in conjunction with public bodies, with the aim of guiding the population on the procedures planned for emergency situations with the dam. The following year, in 2024, the simulated evacuation was carried out with students and teachers of the Regente Feijó Municipal School, in the Ana Mary neighborhood. The test scheduled for this year is exclusively preventive and will be performed only for verification of the sound alert system, without the need for any action or evacuation by the community. According to current legislation, simulated evacuation exercises must take place every 5 years, with the next planned only for 2028.
