The power outages in the Paraná reached 308,700 consumer units on Sunday morning (4), after stormy and strong wind gusts hit several regions of the state. In Campos Gerais and Centro-Sul, an area that includes the Ponta Grossa region, 42.1 thousand supply interruptions were recorded.

Copel’s electrical and maintenance teams have been working since Saturday night to rebuild parts of the power grid hit by storms. The first occurrences of greater intensity began to be recorded around 10:30 pm.

The Southwest concentrates the highest number of occurrences

The Southwest region of Paraná recorded the largest volume of units without power, with approximately 91.6 thousand shutdowns.

One of the most intense episodes took place in Nova Prata do Iguaçu, where the wind gusts reached 140 km/h at 11:30 pm. There was also a record of 24.4 millimeters of rainfall in the municipality.

The figures released this morning show that more than 308,000 consumer units arrived on Sunday without power in different parts of the state.

The West was also heavily affected.

In the West region, approximately 64.8 thousand power outages were recorded.

Foz do Iguaçu accounted for about 28,000 consumer units affected around 11 p.m. With the work of the teams over the next few hours, that number fell to approximately 4,000 units.

In the North and Northwest regions, 52.6 thousand and 52.3 thousand interruptions were recorded, respectively. Londrina was among the most affected municipalities, with approximately 22,200 units without supply.

Campos Gerais and Centro-Sul have 42.1 thousand shutdowns

In the Campos Gerais and Center-South, the balance pointed to 42.1 thousand consumer units disconnected.

The volume places the region among the areas most affected by the storms in the Paraná and increases attention to possible new occurrences throughout this Sunday.

In Curitiba, the Metropolitan and Coastal Region, the balance pointed to about 5,200 cases.

Copel maintains special operation during the elections

The situation receives special attention because it occurs precisely this election Sunday.

The Copel Operations Center monitors the occurrences in real time and maintains integration with the bodies involved in holding the first round of the 2026 elections.

The company had previously prepared a special operation to ensure the attendance of the Paraná polling places. The planning involves the Paraná Regional Electoral Court (TRE-PR) and monitoring of weather conditions. The state has 4,322 polling places, according to information released before the elections.

This Sunday, the voting takes place from 8 am to 5 pm at the Paraná.

Even with records of outages at some points, teams are working to speed up supply re-establishment and reduce impacts on structures considered to be priority.

Work continues until network normalization

Copel said teams remain in the field, with priority to rebuild damaged structures and restore supply to consumers who remain powerless.

The work should continue throughout Sunday until the normalization of the electricity grid in the affected regions.

As the numbers can change rapidly as supply is restored or new occurrences are recorded, the balance sheet represents the situation reported on Sunday morning (4).
