Lula calls Roberta Luchsinger 'female Vorcaro'

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), a candidate for re-election, on Thursday compared the lobbyist Roberta Luchsinger to the banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of the then Banco Master, "because she managed to pass through a lot of people, talk to a lot of people." The statement was given in an interview with the Flow podcast, in which Lula also stated that if his son “made something wrong, he will pay.”

Luchsinger is friends with Fábio Luís Lula da Silva, the president’s eldest son. It is investigated by the Federal Police in the investigation of fraud related to discounts on benefits of the INSS. During the investigations, the PF identified transfers of the businesswoman to the then head of office of the Presidency Marco Aurélio Santana, known as Marcola, in addition to a draft contract for the sale of cannabidiol-based medicines to the Ministry of Health.

Lula attacks lobbyist and denies proximity

In the interview, Lula was hard on talking about Roberta Luchsinger. "Now, as far as I know, she's a very big pillar. [...] She must be the female Vorcaro, because she managed to go through a lot of people, talk to a lot of people and by what I know from cell phone conversation, she lies a lot, she just said the following 'Lula offered me a guy I wanted in government', that's just a scoundrel," said the president.

When asked about his son's relationship with the businesswoman, Lula denied having had contact with her and said that photos are not enough to prove influence or proximity. The speech seeks to minimize the connection between Lulinha and the lobbyist, who appears in images alongside the president's son in social events.

Investigations target influencer trafficking

The Federal Police investigates whether the son of the petista committed the crimes of trafficking of influence and corruption in three different investigations. One of the lines of investigation investigates whether Lulinha acted to favor the lobbyist Antônio Carlos Camilo Antunes, known as "Careca do INSS", in negotiations with the Ministry of Health.

Luchsinger's transfers to Marcola and the contract draft for cannabidiol are central parts in the counts. The PF tries to establish whether there was use of the public machine to benefit allies and whether the president’s son had direct participation in the schemes. To date, none of the above have been formally reported.

Lula Promises Punishment to His Son

In an interview with the podcast Flow, Lula said that if his son "did something wrong, he will pay." The statement is an attempt to shield the government and show that there will be no interference in the investigations. The president also criticized what he called Luchsinger’s “mobile chat,” suggesting she lied about alleged job offers.
