Lula will give national speech on Sunday (8th) at 8:30pm; see the topics and when to watch

Lula’s speech will be shown on national television this Sunday (November 8), at 8:30 p.m. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva must address the union of Brazilians after the elections, fiscal responsibility and the continuity of social programs. The message will also be accompanied by residents of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais, in the Paraná, where the economic decisions of the federal government have reflections on companies, workers and consumers.
The demonstration will be the first of the president on a national network since the victory in the second round of the presidential elections, held on October 25, when he defeated Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL).
According to the official announcement released by the Brazilian Communications Company (EBC), the speech will last 7 minutes and 44 seconds. The television broadcast will take place this Sunday, at 8:30 pm, while the radio broadcast is scheduled for Monday (9), at 7:30 am.
Lula should call for union after elections
One of the main points expected in Lula’s pronouncement is the request for national reconciliation after the electoral dispute.
The expectation is that the president highlights the need to overcome political polarization and defends the dialogue between different sectors of society to ensure governance during the next term.
Lula should also thank the more than 64 million Brazilians who voted for him in the second round, emphasizing the participation of the population in the democratic process.
The president was re-elected with approximately 51.79% of the valid votes, against 48.21% received by Flávio Bolsonaro.
Taxation is among the main issues
The Brazilian economic situation should also occupy an important place in the presidential message.
Lula must reaffirm his commitment to fiscal responsibility and the balance of public accounts, seeking to convey confidence to the financial market and investors.
However, the president is not expected to present any concrete measures to contain spending during Sunday’s speech.
The proposals are being discussed by the government’s economic team, made up of Ministers Dario Durigan, of the Finance, and Bruno Moretti, of Planning and Budget.
The details of the measures should come later, following the president’s international commitments, including participation in COP31 in Turkey, and meetings in the Philippines.
Social programs and interest should also be addressed
Another expected theme is the continuity of the social policies adopted by the federal government.
The president should reinforce his commitment to programs aimed at the lower income population and defend that the search for fiscal balance does not compromise social actions.
Interest policy may also be mentioned. In the last week, the Banco Central kept the basic interest rate, Selic, at 13.75% per year.
The decision generated criticism from government members, who advocate more favorable conditions to stimulate investment and economic growth.
