Man convicted of private prison crime in Castro is arrested by Civil Police this Thursday (22). The crime against his partner occurred in 2018.
A man convicted of keeping his partner in private prison in Castro, in the Campos Gerais region, was arrested by the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR) on Thursday (22). The arrest took place in compliance with a court order resulting from a definitive conviction for crimes committed in the context of domestic violence, registered in 2018.
The action was carried out by civilian police of the Castro Police Station, who carried out steps to locate the convict after the issuance of the court order. The man was found and referred to the legal procedures necessary to carry out the sentence.
Woman asked for help from inside her residence
The case that resulted in the conviction came in 2018, when the Military Police were called after complaints that a woman was asking for help from inside a residence in the municipality.
When they arrived at the address, the police found that the victim was prevented from leaving the property. The doors and windows of the house had been locked with padlocks, making it impossible to get out.
Faced with the situation, the military had to break into the door of the residence to be able to enter and carry out the rescue of the woman.
According to police records, the victim reported that she was kept in confinement by her companion, which restricted her freedom of movement and made it difficult to contact other people.
In addition to deprivation of liberty, the woman also reported having suffered physical assaults and episodes of psychological violence during the relationship.
Sentence for private imprisonment and domestic violence
The events recorded in 2018 gave rise to the criminal case that resulted in the man’s conviction for crimes related to domestic violence, including the private prison of the companion.
According to the Civil Police, the court decision has been put on trial, which means that there is no longer any possibility of appeal against the conviction.
With the final sentence, an arrest warrant was issued for the convict to begin serving the sentence imposed by the Justice.
The execution of the warrant took place on Thursday (22), after the work of the Civil Police team of Castro.
Man remains at the disposal of Justice
After being located and arrested, the convict was referred to the proper legal procedures.
According to the information disclosed by PCPR, it remains at the disposal of the Judiciary for the purpose of serving the established sentence.
The Civil Police did not inform, in the statement, the age of the convict, the length of the sentence or the place where he was found.
The case of private imprisonment in Castro also draws attention to the severity of domestic violence and the situations in which victims are prevented from leaving the home or staying in contact with family members and others.
