Man is arrested after attempting to cut high-tension cables in Ponta Grossa

A man was arrested by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) suspected of attempting to steal cables in Ponta Grossa. The incident was recorded in Rua Lúcio de Mendonça, after a team was activated by the Integrated Center for Public Security Operations (CIOSP) to verify a possible theft situation in a private property.

According to the bulletin of the occurrence, agents of the GCM India team visualized a man descending from a structure where the electrical power meter and part of the wiring of the property are installed.

When the vehicle arrived, the suspect tried to leave the scene. The guards carried out the approach and made a personal search, but no illicit object was found with him. The consultation with the security systems also did not point to irregularities at that time.

Alicate is found near the structure

During the inspection, the agents found near the electrical structure a large cutting plier, approximately 76 centimeters long, in addition to a piece used for joining electrical power cables.

According to GCM, signs of violation were also found in the power box and in the structure that supports the wiring.

Three junction points of high-voltage cables were broken and cut. As recorded by the team, the wires appeared to be ready to be removed from the site.

The damage, cables and materials found were photographed to integrate the record of the occurrence.

Witnesses reported movement

A nearby resident told the guards that he had seen the man approached climbing into the building structure and accessing the area near the pole to cut off the electrical wiring.

According to the report presented to GCM, only one person would have participated in the action.

Faced with the traces found, the material located near the point where the approach took place and the information provided by the witness, the officers gave the suspect a voice of arrest.

The suspect was referred to the 13th SDP.

A company responsible for monitoring the property was also triggered after the work alarm system fired. Agents of the company appeared at the address and those responsible for the construction were communicated about the situation.

The man was referred to the 13th Police Subdivision (13th SDP), where the occurrence was presented to the police authority for analysis and adoption of the appropriate measures.

The pliers and other materials found were seized and handed over to the Civil Police. The images of the cut cables and the damages found were also attached to the record of the occurrence.

The case remains under the responsibility of the competent authorities.
