The 30-year-old Irati man who disappeared in the Rio Tibagi after a boat flipped during a fishing trip remains unlocated until the latest update on Tuesday, in Ponta Grossa. The occurrence is recorded in the Vila de Uvaia region, in the district of Uvaia, near the bridge of Rio Tibagi and BR-373.

Firefighters remain mobilized in the area to try to locate the missing person. The Rio Tibagi is with high volume of water and strong current, conditions that make search operation more complex.

Boat turned during fishing

According to information obtained by the BnT Online team at the site, two men were in a boat during a fishing trip when the boat turned over. One of the occupants, 28, reported that he was organizing the fishing materials when the other man moved to one of the ends of the boat. The boat turned and they both fell into the water.

The 28-year-old man managed to get out of the river and reach a residence in the region, where he asked for help so that the Fire Department and the Samu could be activated. The second occupant, 30 years old, initially remained clinging to the vessel, but was eventually carried away by the current and disappeared into the river.

Resident helped in the first searches

Soon after the emergency teams were activated, a resident of the region who owns a boat assisted in the first search works. He entered the river accompanied by a member of the Fire Department while other teams were mobilized to reinforce the incident.
