Man threatens relatives with knife and elderly man is injured in PG

An occurrence of domestic violence in Ponta Grossa ended with a 71-year-old injured and a man referred to the police station on Thursday morning (5). The case was registered in the Jardim Carvalho neighborhood, after the Military Police were called in to respond to a report of threats against relatives, involving the use of a knife.

According to information passed on by the 1st Battalion of the Military Police, a team was triggered by the Operations Center of the Military Police (COPOM) after receiving information that a man was presenting aggressive behavior against relatives and carrying a white weapon.

Upon arriving at the address, the police carried out the approach of the suspect and spoke with the people involved to clarify the circumstances of the occurrence.

Man threatens family with knife

According to reports gathered by the Military Police, the man allegedly used a knife to threaten two relatives during a disagreement.

Among the victims was a 71-year-old man, who was also reportedly threatened with death by the suspect.

According to police, the man threatened to burn the elderly man’s residence, increasing the severity of the situation reported by relatives.

During the discussion, the elderly man also suffered an injury to the region of his face after being hit by a piece of wood.

The bulletin released by the Military Police does not detail the severity of the injury nor does it inform whether the victim needed medical attention.

Knife was seized by military police

During the attendance of the occurrence of domestic violence in Ponta Grossa, the police located and seized the knife mentioned by the involved.

In the face of the reported threats and the aggression suffered by the elderly, the team referred the suspect and the others involved to the 13th Police Subdivision of Ponta Grossa.

In the police unit, the case was presented for the adoption of the appropriate legal measures and the determination of the circumstances of the occurrence.

To date, the information released does not clarify the specific family link between the suspect and the victims, nor has there been arrest in flagrante.

The incident mobilized military police officers of the 1st BPM, responsible for attending to public security situations in Ponta Grossa.

The case involves reports of threats against family members, threats of burning a residence and physical assault against an elderly person.

The Civil Police shall evaluate the elements presented during the service and adopt the relevant measures.
