Marist Olympics bring over 790 students to Ponta Grossa
Marist Olympics in Ponta Grossa gathered 793 students in six sports modalities during the regional stage of the competition
The Marist Olympics in Ponta Grossa gathered 793 students during the regional stage held at the Pius XII Marist College. In all, 16 teams participated in the competition, which included basketball, futsal, handball, volleyball, table tennis and chess.
The stage was held last week and brought together students, technical teams and other members of the delegations in a program that sought to promote not only sports competition, but also integration and coexistence among participants.
The activities were part of the Marist Olympics, a competition that reaches another edition with a focus on the integral training of students through sport, the experiences of coexistence and the values worked by the institution.
Competition reinforces respect on and off the courts
In this edition, the Marist Olympics have adopted the thematic campaign “Without respect, there is no game”.
The initiative seeks to bring the discussion about respect beyond the matches, involving athletes, technical teams, fans and the entire participating community.
The proposal is to strengthen an environment of coexistence considered healthy, ethical and welcoming, using sport as a tool to work values and relationships between students.
In addition to the contests, the competition seeks to provide experiences that contribute to the physical, emotional, social and spiritual development of the participants.
Next phases of the Marist Olympics
The Marist Olympics are held in five regional stages and one national stage, between the months of August and October.
The competition brings together thousands of athletes and educators at different times throughout the calendar.
The winning teams of each regional stage advance to the National Stage, which will be hosted by the Archdiocesan Marist College, in São Paulo.
In addition to the qualifying modalities for the national phase, each regional stage can also count on other modalities. These disputes do not have a national classification character, but they broaden the participation and the protagonism of the students during the event.
The realization of the Marist Olympics integrates the pedagogical proposal of the institution to use sport, artistic experiences, cultural coexistence and pastoral experiences as instruments of formation.
Marist Pius XII
The Pio XII Marist College, in Ponta Grossa, is part of the Marist network, which is present in 21 Brazilian states.
According to the information released by the institution, the network serves about 100,000 children, young people and adults in 97 educational units.
The training proposal combines the values of the Marist tradition with academic training, seeking to develop in students knowledge, critical thinking and autonomy.
The Marist Olympics stage held in Ponta Grossa also reinforced the use of sport as part of this process of training and integration between students from different units.
