Mendonça rejects action against Bolsa Família reajuste
Decision by Mendonça was based on procedural grounds, without merit analysis

Minister André Mendonça, of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), rejected on Thursday (17) action filed by deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) questioning the readjustment for the benefits of the Bolsa Família program.
The action was dismissed on procedural grounds. Thus, the merit was not analyzed.
In the minister’s view, it is not legitimate for a candidate for federal deputy to bring an action against a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, since the two positions are contested in different electoral constituencies (they compete in different territories, one national and the other state).
The benefit paid by the Bolsa Família program will be readjusted by 15%. The increase corresponds to the inflationary variation recorded by the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) between March 2023 and August 2026. With this, the minimum amount of the benefit will be at R $ 691. The average amount paid will reach R $ 777.
The updating of the values is provided for in the Bolsa Família legislation and seeks to preserve the purchasing power of beneficiary families, according to the government.
Earlier, the Advocacy General of the Union (AGU) reported that the readjustment of the Bolsa Família is protected by legislation because it is a permanent program. According to the agency, the benefits have not been corrected since the creation of the new model of the program in 2023.
