The future of Münchenfest in Ponta Grossa can go through a major transformation. After the postponement of the 2026 edition, representatives of local microbreweries began to discuss alternatives to revitalize the traditional National Dark Chope Festival. The proposal is to build a new model of event, with more affordable tickets, appreciation of German culture and greater participation of families.

Ricardo Carvalho, representative of the Association of Microbreweries of Ponta Grossa and founder of OAK Bier, revealed that the sector intends to seek support from municipal authorities and partner entities to enable the celebration in 2027.

“Now we have to raise our heads and look for alternatives to try to rescue this party. Rescue can be in a different way, a more German party even, with a cheaper entrance, to make the public return with the family to the pavilion,” he said.

According to Ricardo, the intention is to turn the moment into an opportunity to strengthen the identity of Münchenfest and recover the popular participation that marked the history of the event.

Association wants to unite breweries, entities and public power

One of the main strategies advocated by the representative is to increase the participation of microbreweries in the construction of a new project for the party.

Ricardo explained that the association already maintains contacts with municipal bodies and seeks support to develop a proposal capable of guaranteeing the continuity of the celebration.

“Only a brewery doesn’t make an event like that. Today we have a association here of Ponta Grossa, breweries. We are also in contact with various bodies of the municipality to support us in this new project, so that we can try to make this party again next year, in a different format,” he said.

The proposal involves the articulation of different sectors, including entrepreneurs, institutions linked to entrepreneurship and representatives of the public power.

For the industry, the union will be key to building a financially viable party, attractive to the public and able to move the economy of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais.

Blumenau’s model is a reference to recover the tradition

Ricardo Carvalho also mentioned Blumenau, in Santa Catarina, as an example of valuing Germanic traditions and of bringing brewing events closer to the community.

In the assessment of the entrepreneur, the strengthening of cultural attractions, the participation of families and the appreciation of breweries can help to regain the public interest in Münchenfest.

“This year is going to be difficult, but next year we are already wanting to sit with the authorities to try to get in a different way, as Blumenau did,” he said.

Among the ideas presented are more popular prices, greater presence of elements of German culture and an environment that encourages the participation of different generations.

Ponta Grossa can strengthen your beer identity

Ricardo also stressed the importance of harnessing the strength of the brewing industry of Ponta Grossa to enhance the party and expand its tourist potential.

“The Ponta Grossa is today the largest beer pole in Latin America. So with this brewery footprint here at Ponta Grossa and Munich, this would go very well,” he said.

The assessment is that the Münchenfest could once again play an important role in popularizing the city’s breweries, attracting visitors, encouraging trade and strengthening regional gastronomy.

In addition to the large industries installed in the municipality, microbreweries represent an important part of the artisanal production and the local gastronomic identity.

The aim is to ensure the continuity of Münchenfest

Despite the difficulties faced in 2026, Ricardo Carvalho believes that the tradition built over 35 editions needs to be preserved.

“So we have this mission now to try to turn that page and keep the tradition and continue with a beautiful party, as it always has. It's 35 editions, right? We can’t leave,” he said.

The representative stressed that the involvement of partners will be decisive in turning the proposal into reality.

“It is very important that all the organs that are present support us so that we can make this party a reality,” he concluded.

For now, the proposed reformulation still depends on articulations and definitions between those involved. There is no confirmation that the new model will be officially adopted in 2027.

The initiative, however, demonstrates the willingness of microbreweries to take an active role in preserving and renewing one of the most traditional Ponta Grossa events.

Munichfest moves tourism and already inspires independent party

The mobilization of microbreweries also happens at a time of concern from other economic sectors. As reported by BnT Online, the postponement caused cancellations of reservations at the Ponta Grossa hotel, with an estimated impact of more than R$ 100,000.

In parallel to the project of revitalization of Münchenfest for 2027, the Association of Microbreweries announced the realization of Münchenria, an independent event scheduled for November 14 and 15, at the Ecotourism Country Club, in Uvaranas. The initiative aims to enhance local artisanal production and offer an alternative to the public.

The industry expects these initiatives to contribute to keeping the city’s brewing tradition alive and paving the way for a renewed Münchenfest.
