Moro celebrates 203 years of Ponta Grossa with promises and attacks on Lula's government

On the morning of this celebration of the 203 years of Ponta Grossa, Senator Sérgio Moro and his wife, Federal Representative Rosangela Moro, attended the city’s civic parade and gave an exclusive interview to the portal Boca no Trombone. During the conversation, the couple addressed topics that ranged from regional development and infrastructure works to harsh criticism of the current national political scenario and the Workers’ Party (PT).

Moro began the interview by recalling his strong connections with Ponta Grossa, his parents’ hometown, but stressed that his commitment goes beyond family ties. He argued that the city should be a state-wide highlight of the Paraná, seeking a more expressive development for the Campos Gerais region.

"It is a very strong agricultural land, and we have seen the strong growth of industrialization," said the Senator, citing the installation of new industries in the region. However, Moro pointed to logistical bottlenecks that need to be resolved, such as the frequent congestion on the highway that connects Curitiba to Ponta Grossa and the need to remove the railway from the city center.

One of the main commitments signed by the Senator was the resumption of commercial flights at Ponta Grossa Airport. "With the partnership of prefeita Elizabeth, we will resume commercial flights. This is essential and we will do this work tirelessly," he promised.

Political Articulation and Ferrenian Opposition

In the political field, Sérgio Moro highlighted the formation of a solid basis for the next elections, mentioning the alliance between his party (União Brasil/PL - in the interview he cites PL, Novo and Podemos), Novo and Podemos, with the aim of electing strong seats in the Legislative Assembly and in Congresso Nacional. He cited local names such as Julio Küller and Aline Sleutjes as important pieces of this project.

The rhetoric against the current federal government was a high point of the interview. Moro stated that the goal of his group is to provide a “complete victory” against the political project led by President Lula. “No more Lula, no one can stand it anymore. [...] We will make a historic vote to defeat Lula and definitively retire the PT in Brazil,” the senator said, promising a “clean, honest and efficient government.”

Rosângela Moro: Praise to Ponta Grossa and Criticisms to the Economy

Invited to participate in the conversation, Deputy Rosangela Moro congratulated the city on its 203 years, remembering that she spent much of her adolescence in Ponta Grossa and has local relatives.

When commenting on the national scenario, Rosângela was emphatic in her criticisms of the current economic management. “Our country cannot endure four more years of the PT government. You can no longer go to the supermarket, gasoline is very expensive, companies breaking down and going to Paraguay, health is scrapped," he argued. The MP also recalled the times of Operação Lava Jato, stating that the operation and then judge Sérgio Moro brought dignity to the conduct of public affairs, something that, according to her, is threatened by the current context of Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF).

A leap to the Paraná

At the end of the interview, asked if his eventual candidacy for the state government would represent a setback in relation to the current management of Ratinho Júnior, Moro vehemently denied it. He said he intends to continue the good projects, but assured that he will seek further advances.

"We cannot satisfy ourselves [with the state] above average. We want to be the best state in the federation. In fact, it is the opposite: the biggest leap we will take is here at Paraná," the Senator concluded, making clear his political project for the state in the coming years.
