The situation of the Mortuary Chapel of the Santa Paula, in Ponta Grossa, has provoked outrage among residents of the region. Reports sent to Portal BnT Online point to poor conditions of conservation, accumulation of waste, lack of maintenance and recurrent episodes of abandonment of animals in space.

According to reports, the structure shows signs of deterioration and is being used as an improvised shelter by people in street situations. Residents also claim that the dirt accumulated around the chapel worsens the conditions of the site.

The situation gained even more attention after five puppies were abandoned in the dependencies of the chapel, an episode that, according to the community, would not be the first registered at the address.

Puppies show signs of health problems

A resident who lives near the Mortuary Chapel of Santa Paula reported to the report that the five puppies appear to be approximately two months old and show signs of health problems.

"The puppies must be about two months old, they have fleas, scabies and ticks," he said.

The report is concerned about the vulnerability of the animals, which need veterinary evaluation to check their health conditions and receive adequate care.

According to residents, the abandonment of dogs in the site has happened other times, which increases the concern of the community with the use of the area for the irregular disposal of animals.

Residents charge reform and maintenance

In addition to the situation of the cubs, the population questions the lack of measures to recover the structure of the mortuary chapel.

One of the complaints sent to BnT Online claims that representatives had previously appeared at the site to make video recordings related to a possible reform. However, according to residents, no improvement has been made so far.

"The situation in the Mortal Chapel of Santa Paula is precarious. They came to make videos for retirement and so far nothing. It’s destroyed, full of garbage,” a whistleblower said.

The community charges for cleaning, maintenance and recovery of the structure, as well as measures that can prevent new episodes of abandonment of animals.

Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa was searched

The Portal BnT Online contacted the Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa to request clarification on the conditions of the Mortar Chapel of the Santa Paula, the existence of reform projects, the deadlines for possible interventions and the measures planned in the face of reports of abandonment of animals.

Until the closure of this report, the municipal administration had not forwarded a positioning.

The space remains open for the manifestation of the City Hall, and the matter may be updated if there is a return.
