Motorcyclist Injured in Collision with Truck on PRC-373 in PG
Accident on PRC-373 in Ponta Grossa leaves 46-year-old motorcyclist injured after collision with truck on Thursday (5).
An accident on the PRC-373 left a 46-year-old motorcyclist injured on Thursday morning in Ponta Grossa on Campos Gerais do Paraná. The collision involving a Honda CG motorcycle and a Mercedes-Benz truck occurred at around 10:40 a.m. at km 168.5 of the highway.
According to information released by Polícia Militar Rodoviária (BPRv), the accident was classified as a longitudinal bump, a type of collision that occurs when vehicles come into contact laterally while traveling on the road.
The motorcyclist suffered injuries considered moderate and needed to be referred to the Ponta Grossa Regional Hospital for medical attention.
The victim's current health status was not reported in the police bulletin.
Truck and motorcycle followed the same highway
According to the survey carried out by the road police, the motorcycle Honda CG, with plates of Urinhos, inside of São Paulo, and the truck Mercedes-Benz 2544, with plates of Erechim, in Rio Grande do Sul, were traveling on the PRC-373.
The truck was attached to a Guerra semi-trailer, with Esteio plates, also in Rio Grande do Sul.
The vehicles were heading in the direction of the junction with the BR-376 towards the junction with the PR-151 when the collision occurred, at the height of 168.5 km.
The driver of the truck, a 58-year-old man, was not injured.
The police responded to the incident
The service of the accident in PRC-373 was registered by the team of the State Road Police of Piraí do Sul, linked to the 5th Company of the Road Police Battalion (BPRv), of the Military Police of Paraná.
According to the bulletin, the police carried out the collection of information related to the vehicles involved and the circumstances of the accident.
The incident was classified as a traffic accident with a victim, due to the injuries suffered by the motorcyclist.
Until the release of the information, there were no details about what would have caused the collision. The bulletin also does not clarify whether there was a need for lanes interdiction or changes in the flow of vehicles during the service.
The section of the PRC-373 where the accident occurred integrates the road network that serves Ponta Grossa and the region of Campos Gerais, connecting important roads.
The circumstances of the collision can be clarified from the surveys carried out by the responsible authorities.
