Municipal Civil Guard of Ponta Grossa receives 200 new pistols in a ceremony at ACIPG. The event also honored agents and presented new dogs.
The Municipal Civil Guard of Ponta Grossa received, on Wednesday (23), 200 new pistols to reinforce the work of the public security officers of the municipality. The delivery took place in the auditorium of the Commercial, Industrial and Business Association of Ponta Grossa (ACIPG) and brought together municipal authorities and representatives of the security forces.
The ceremony was promoted by Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Secretariat of Citizenship and Public Security, and was attended by prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt and the municipal secretary of the portfolio.
In addition to the delivery of the new weapons, the program marked the celebrations of the 23 years of the Municipal Civil Guard and paid tribute to the members of the class of 2016, who complete ten years of activity in the corporation.
Mayor highlights investments in public safety
During the solemnity, prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt stressed the importance of investments in the structure of the Municipal Civil Guard and the integrated work between the different security forces that work in Ponta Grossa.
According to Elizabeth, the results of the actions developed in the municipality can be observed in the reduction of crime indicators.
“This sense of security that we have is not just a feeling, it is true, because crime rates have decreased. The united security forces are doing a wonderful job," the mayor said.
Elizabeth also highlighted the contribution of the municipal administration to public safety, mentioning the investments in technology and the operational structure of the Municipal Civil Guard.
"Through the Secretariat of Citizenship and Public Security, we are making our contribution to the Muralha Digital and our workforce, with more than 400 municipal guards," he said.
The mayor also stressed the importance of the delivery of the new pistols for the modernization of the equipment used by the agents.
New pistols strengthen the structure of the Municipal Civil Guard
The delivery of the 200 new pistols integrates the actions of the municipal administration aimed at the equipment of the Municipal Civil Guard of Ponta Grossa.
The new state-of-the-art armaments will be destined for the corporation, expanding the availability of equipment for the professionals responsible for public safety activities in the municipality.
The initiative is also part of the measures to strengthen the operational structure of the Guard, which acts together with other security forces in the protection of the population and public property.

Another moment of the program was the tribute to the members of the 2016 class of the Municipal Civil Guard, who complete ten years of work in public safety of Ponta Grossa.
The solemnity also included the presentation of the new dogs of the GCM, which become part of the structure of the corporation.
The ceremony brought together representatives of the security forces of the municipality and marked the celebrations for the 23 years of activity of the Municipal Civil Guard of Ponta Grossa.
