Municipal secretaries of the Campos Gerais have advanced in the construction of a joint action plan to strengthen the region’s industry. The theme was discussed during the 2nd Meeting between Secretaries – Dialogues for Regional Industrial Development, held on Thursday (8), in Castro.

The initiative is promoted by the Association of Municipalities of Campos Gerais (AMCG), in partnership with Sebrae and the Fiep System, and seeks to expand integration between municipalities to improve the business environment, stimulate new investments and increase the competitiveness of regional industries.

During the meeting, representatives of the municipalities analyzed data on the economic profile of the cities, local demands, potentialities and challenges faced by the sector. The proposal is to transform this survey into practical actions that can also be presented to the mayors and mayors of the region.

Among the topics discussed were the attraction of new investments, the expansion of the skilled workforce, the strengthening of micro and small industries and the creation of joint strategies for the economic development of the Campos Gerais.

Municipalities are looking for integrated actions

According to the executive director of AMCG, Katiane Pires, the second meeting served to expand and validate the demands presented by the municipalities at the first meeting.

“We already had a very productive first meeting, in which the municipalities presented their demands, and today we are doing this validation. As we have had more municipalities participating in this stage, we believe that this mapping will be even more cohesive with the reality of our region and the Campos Gerais,” he said.

She also stressed that the intention is to involve municipal managers in the construction of the next stages.

“By establishing this dialogue also with the mayors and mayors, we will be able to design concrete actions for the region, aimed at industrial development,” he added.

Sebrae/PR consultant Joslaine Schmidt explained that the goal now is to transform regional diagnosis into a structured plan.

“At the first meeting, we mapped out possible actions for regional development. Today’s goal was to prioritize these actions so that they can, in fact, turn into an action plan,” he explained.

According to her, the initiative also aims to increase the competitiveness of small industries and strengthen territorial development.

Action plan begins to be structured

For the coordinator of the Fiep Regional Council, Rafael Rickli, the meetings are part of a continuous process of regional articulation.

“We visualize what needs to be worked on and now we enter into the construction of an action plan. The idea is to continue working on a cycle to strengthen the entire industry of the region in an integrated way,” he stressed.

The next step will be to organize the main demands and proposals raised in the meetings for joint presentation to municipal managers, through the AMCG.

Castro highlights industrial expansion

At the second meeting, Castro also presented data on the progress of the industrial sector in the municipality.

The Secretary of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Kasciano Morais, said that the city seeks to consolidate its role as a regional hub.

“Castro has been seeking, in the economic scenario, to consolidate itself more and more as a regional commercial, industrial and also tourist pole,” he said.

According to the secretary, about two thousand people from other municipalities travel daily to work in Castro, a number that demonstrates the importance of the sector for the local economy.

Kasciano also stressed that the expansion of the infrastructure could open up new investment possibilities.

“Industrial Park II, after the delivery of the Contorno Norte, enabled new opportunities for Castro on the national and international scene, including for the arrival of large companies,” he concluded.
