Municipalities in the region suspend classes due to forecast of severe storms this Saturday

Castro, Jaguariaíva and Telêmaco Borba announced preventive measures after alerts from Civil Defense and Simepar about heavy rain, strong winds and possibility of hail

The suspension of classes in municipalities of the Campos Gerais was announced by different municipalities on Thursday (10) after warnings of Defesa Civil and Simepar about the possibility of severe storms on Friday (11). The measures range from suspending school activities, interrupting transportation and guiding parents to keep children at home.

In Castro, the City Council announced the suspension of face-to-face classes of the Municipal Education Network on Friday (11), following the recommendation of the Defesa Civil Municipal. The decision also includes the stoppage of school transport under the responsibility of the municipality, including lines that serve students of the state network.

According to the municipal administration, the measure is preventive and seeks to ensure the safety of students, education professionals and users of school transport, especially in displacements carried out in rural areas.

Jaguariaíva suspends school activities

In Jaguariaíva, the City Council also announced the suspension of activities on Friday (11) due to preventive alerts related to adverse weather conditions.

The municipality reported that the decision was taken after guidance from Defesa Civil, given the forecast of storms, with the possibility of intense rain, gusts of wind and hail.

Telêmaco Borba guides parents to assess student permanence

In Telêmaco Borba, the City Hall issued an alert after Simepar’s forecast indicated the possibility of severe storms, windstorms and hailfall.

Despite the planned scenario, the municipal schools and the Municipal Centers of Educação Infantil (CMEIs) will remain open and operating normally. The municipal administration advised parents and guardians to assess the conditions and, if necessary, keep the children at home.

The municipality also reported that there will be no school loss or missing students who do not attend due to the weather conditions.

Imbaú recommends parents not to send children to schools

In Imbaú, the City Hall also issued preventive guidance for this Friday (11). Faced with weather alerts, the municipality recommended that parents and guardians not refer children to the educational units, as a way to avoid risks during travel.

The orientation mainly considers the possibility of intense instability, with heavy rain, wind and other phenomena associated with the predicted storms.

Tibagi guides families on student safety

In Tibagi, the municipal administration also advised parents and guardians not to send children to schools on Friday, due to warnings of severe weather conditions.

The recommendation is preventive and seeks to reduce risks related to the displacement of students and servers during the period of greatest instability.

Ponta Grossa and Carambeí have not released any changes yet

Until the publication of this article, Ponta Grossa and Carambeí had not released official statements about suspension of classes or changes in the school routine.

The forecast indicates risk of storms between this Thursday (10) and Friday (11) in different regions of the Paraná. The Defesa Civil advises the population to follow the official warnings and avoid risk situations during periods of heavy rain.
