October Rose Walk brings hundreds of people to Ponta Grossa
October Rose Walk 2026 gathered hundreds of people in Ponta Grossa's Center on Tuesday (27) and reinforced the importance of early diagnosis.

Hundreds of people participated in the afternoon of Tuesday (27), the Outubro Rosa 2026 Walk – Together for Prevention, held at the Ponta Grossa Center. Dressed in pink, the participants walked the streets of the central region to draw the attention of the population to the importance of early diagnosis of breast cancer and preventive health care.
The initiative was promoted by Rede Massa, with support from Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, and brought together residents in a mobilization aimed at raising awareness about the disease, which is among the main causes of death from cancer among women in Brazil.
The concentration took place in front of the Acoustic Shell, in the Blue Point. From there, the participants followed the promenade to the corner of the Terminal Central, carrying a message of encouragement to health care.
At the end of the course, the public had access to health guidelines, distribution of gifts and educational activities related to the Outubro Rosa campaign.
The City Council stresses the importance of preventive examinations
During the mobilization, prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt stressed that awareness should not be restricted to the month of October. According to her, it is essential that women maintain medical follow-up and seek health services regularly.
“Walking is a symbolic moment, but prevention needs to happen year-round. Therefore, we reinforce the invitation for women to look for health facilities and take their exams. The city hall is open to take care of each of them," said the mayor.
The president of the Social Welfare Foundation of Ponta Grossa (FASPG), Tatyana Belo, also highlighted the participation of the community and the importance of multiplying information on early diagnosis.
"The population embraced the walk and colored the city center in pink. This shows that Ponta Grossa understands that taking care of health is a priority. Early diagnosis saves lives, and every person who has been here today carries this message forward, to family, friends and neighbors.”
Outubro Rosa strengthens women's health care
The Outubro Rosa campaign is held annually to raise awareness about breast cancer, encourage recognition of possible signs of the disease, and expand access to information on diagnosis and treatment.
Identifying cancer in the early stages can increase the chances of successful treatment. Therefore, it is important that women are attentive to breast changes and seek evaluation in health units, in addition to performing screening tests according to the guidance of professionals.
With the walk on Tuesday, Ponta Grossa reinforced the message that women’s health care should be a priority throughout the year, and not just during the campaign period.
