Older adults over 85 years old can get vaccinated with Pneumo 20 in Castro
The vaccine protects against 20 serotypes of the Pneumococcus bacteria (Streptococcus pneumoniae), which causes serious diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis and acute middle ear infection
From Friday (2), the 20-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (Pneumo 20) began to contemplate elderly over 85 years in Castro.
The vaccine protects against 20 serotypes of the bacterium Pneumococcus (Streptococcus pneumoniae), which causes serious diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis and acute otitis media. Pneumo 20 can be applied in UBSs Bom Jesus, Jeová Ribeiro, Morada do Sol, Cantagalo, Alvorada, Vila Rosário, Castrolanda, Tronco, Socavão and Abapan.
For bedridden elderly, the guidance of the Department of Health is to look for one of the UBSs listed above and talk to the team about the vaccine. There is no need for a prescription to get vaccinated.
Children older than 2 months and younger than 5 years of age with incomplete vaccination schedule and specific groups defined by the National Immunization Program may also be vaccinated with Pneumo 20.
