Operation Cidade Segura arrests man with gun and ammunition in Castro

A man was arrested for illegally carrying a firearm on Monday night in Castro. The incident was recorded at around 9 p.m. in Rua José Waldemar Iucksch, in Jardim das Araucarias, during the Operação Cidade Segura.

During the approach to an establishment, Military Police teams carried out the check of the frequenters and their vehicles. In one of the cars, a Taurus PT 838C pistol was located, with one ammunition in the chamber - in a position to fire - and seventeen others next to the charger. The gunman was under the influence of alcohol and said he had only a record of the gun, without permission to carry it.

The man received a voice of imprisonment and was sent, along with the weapon and ammunition, to

the appropriate arrangements.

The approaches carried out during the operation have a preventive character and integrate the planning based on the criminal indicators of the municipality. Data from the Operational Performance Management (GDO) show a correlation between the ‘frequency in bars and similar establishments’, and the ‘excessive consumption of alcohol’ with the highest incidence of violence in various crimes, which reinforces the importance of the police presence and the inspections in these places.
