Our Lady Aparecida Festival will have novena, race and procession in Ponta Grossa
Programming starts on October 3 with nine nights of novena and ends on October 12 with race, procession, masses and Prize Show
The Festival of Nossa Senhora Aparecida in Ponta Grossa begins next Sunday (3), in Paróquia São Sebastião – Diocesan Shrine of Nossa Senhora Aparecida. The program will have nine nights of novena and will continue until the 12th, when the faithful will participate in races, processions, masses and other activities in honor of the patroness of Brazil. Throughout the ten days of festivity, the program will also have solidarity actions, Flower Procession, special blessings and food collection.
The novenas will be celebrated between 3 and 11 October, always at 7:30 pm. Each evening will have a specific theme and will be presided over by a guest priest. During the celebrations, devotees will be able to participate in the Flower Procession, bringing tributes to Nossa Senhora Aparecida.
Novena will collect food
Solidarity will also be part of the nine nights of preparation. In each celebration, the so-called Procession of Charity will have the collection of a specific food. The products will be destined for the social projects developed by the parish.
On the third day, packets of pasta will be collected. On day 4, the suggested contribution will be sugar. On October 5, wheat. The sequence will have oil on day 6; beans on day 7; rice on day 8; salt and tea on day 9; tomato sauce on day 10; and boxes of milk on the last night, on October 11.
Blessings will also be given to different groups of the community, including health professionals, educators, the sick, members of public security, pregnant women, catechists, participants in pastoral activities, children and young people.
Testimonials will be shared during the celebrations
The program will also make room for reports sent by the devotees themselves. Testimonies about graces and experiences attributed to the intercession of Nossa Senhora Aparecida will be shared during the novena, integrating the celebrations and prayers of the community.
On Saturday, October 11, in addition to the last night of the novena, the Patron Saint’s Cycling Tour will be held. The activity is scheduled for 3 pm, with concentration and exit in the courtyard of Paróquia São Sebastião.
Day 12 will have programming from 6:30 am
On Nossa Senhora Aparecida Day, October 12, activities will start early. At 6:30 am, the food court will be opened and the 3rd Race of Nossa Senhora Aparecida will take place. At 10 am, there will be Mass with consecration of children.
One of the most traditional moments of the programming is scheduled for 2 pm, when the faithful will meet at Hospital Bom Jesus to begin the procession towards the Sanctuary. On arrival, at 3 p.m., the Solemn Mass will be celebrated, presided by Father Jaime Rossa, Vicar General of the Diocese of Ponta Grossa.
At 6:00 p.m., there will be the prize draw. A new Mass at 7 p.m. will close the religious program of the day.
Food square will work throughout the party
The food court will be open during the festival, between October 3 and 12. The public will find options such as cake, skewer, burger, hot dog, crepe, churros, cakes and drinks.
There will also be the Awards Show, with cards sold for R $ 20. There will be three awards: R$ 1,000, a Smart One electric motorcycle and a 1974 Beetle.
Income will be earmarked for the reconstruction of the Sanctuary
This year’s edition also has a special purpose. All the income collected during the festival will be earmarked for the reconstruction works of the Sanctuary.
On October 12, 2023, strong winds caused significant damage to the structure, including the fall of the cross and the atrium.
Three years later, the same date will again be marked by the meeting of the community, now also with the aim of contributing to the recovery of the religious space.
