Agency Clarifies National Guidance on Emergency Kits Is Educational and Does Not Represent an Alert for the Paraná Population
Defesa Civil do Paraná clarified that there is no need to stock up on groceries or panic after a publication by Defesa Civil National on the assembly of emergency kits. The guidance, which also affects residents of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais, has an educational character and does not represent a new emergency alert for the population of Paraná.
The clarification was released after the circulation of information on the importance of maintaining an emergency kit prepared for adverse situations. The national publication raised doubts about the possibility of some risk situation requiring immediate action by the population.
In an official note, Defesa Civil do Paraná highlighted that the content disseminated by the national institution integrates educational actions of prevention and preparation for eventual emergencies. According to the state body, there is no reason to brag or need to store food and other supplies because of the publication.
Guidance on emergency kit is preventive
The recommendation on the assembly of emergency kits is part of the prevention strategies used by Defesa Civil to guide the population on how to act in different risk situations.
These guidelines seek to encourage the preparation of families for eventual occurrences, such as storms, floods, interruptions of essential services and other situations that may temporarily compromise the routine.
However, Defesa Civil do Paraná clarified that the disclosure of this type of content does not mean that there is an ongoing emergency or that it is necessary to make extraordinary purchases of food.
Preventive preparation should be understood as a safety measure and not as an indication that a disaster is about to happen.
