Paraná doesn't need Lula to stand out", says Moro to BnT
Candidate for Paraná Governor claims he would maintain institutional relations with the federal government if Lula is reelected and says he would not accept discrimination against the State

“The Paraná doesn’t need Lula to stand out.” The statement was made by the senator and candidate for the Government of Paraná Sergio Moro (PL) during an interview with BnT Online, when asked about what the relationship of the State with the federal government would be if he won the dispute for the Iguaçu Palace and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) was re-elected. Moro runs for the government of Paraná for the PL, while Lula disputes re-election to the Presidency.
The question presented during the interview specifically addressed the possibility of political divergences between the state and federal governments influencing the release of resources or the progress of Paraná demands. Moro replied that he intends to maintain an institutional relationship with those who are in the Presidency of the Republic.
“I, whoever is elected to the Presidency, will have an institutional relationship. We will not accept in any way discrimination against the state of Paraná.”
The candidate then stated that in his assessment, the Paraná can maintain economic and political relevance even with a political field president different from the governor.
Moro cites São Paulo as defending political independence
During the response, Moro cited the government of São Paulo as an example to support his argument that partisan differences with the Plateau do not necessarily prevent a state administration from developing its projects. The declaration came amid the final straight of the 2026 elections. Moro disputes for the first time the command of the Paraná Executive and is affiliated with the PL.
Speaking about the presidential election, the candidate also reiterated his political opposition to Lula and declared support for Flávio Bolsonaro in the national dispute.
Relationship with Brasilia entered the agenda of the interview
The discussion about the relationship between the State and the Union arose after the BnT questioned Moro about how he intends to defend the interests of Paraná if the elected president is in an adversary political field.
Although he criticized the current president during the response, Moro said that his eventual government would maintain institutional dialogue with Brasilia.
Tourism and security were also discussed.
Other topics appeared during the interview. In the area of tourism, Moro defended investments and greater disclosure of attractions of Campos Gerais. He specifically cited the Vila Velha State Park at Ponta Grossa and the Guartelá Canyon at Tibagi, stating that the sites could attract a greater flow of visitors with structural improvements and tourism promotion actions.
In public safety, the candidate stated that he intends to conduct periodic contests to recompose the police force and said that, within the legal and administrative possibilities, he intends to make calls related to contests already completed or in progress.
The interview also went through the political articulation in the Campos Gerais. Moro spoke about the candidacies and allies of his coalition in the region and said he considers it important to have parliamentary support in the Legislative Assembly and in Congress for the eventual implementation of government proposals.
