Paraná has red alert for storms on election Sunday; TRE monitors voting
Storm warning in Paraná marks election Sunday. Cold front brings rain, hail and strong winds, while TRE monitors the voting.

The storm warning in the Paraná puts voters and authorities in attention for this Sunday (4), the day of the first round of the 2026 elections. Part of the state is under red alert from the National Meteorological Institute (Inmet), while Ponta Grossa has yellow warning for storms, with possibility of rain, gusts of wind and hailfall.
In areas hit by the red alert, classified as of great danger, the Inmet predicts rain above 60 millimeters per hour or accumulated above 100 millimeters in a day. There is also the possibility of winds above 100 km/h and hailfall.
Among the risks associated with storms are damage to buildings, interruptions in the supply of electricity, fall of trees, floods and disturbances in transport.
In Ponta Grossa, the weather warning issued for this Saturday points to yellow level, of potential danger, with the possibility of winds between 40 km/h and 60 km/h, in addition to rain and hail.
Cold front advances by Paraná
The instability scenario is related to the passage of a new cold front by the State. According to Paraná’s Environmental Technology and Monitoring System (Simepar), the storms begin to gain strength between late Saturday and early Sunday.
During the early morning hours of the voting day, a line of instability is expected to advance eastwards, also reaching central areas and the north of the Paraná.
The trend indicated by Simepar is that the most intense instability has already crossed much of the state by the afternoon. Even so, the weather should remain unstable, especially in the northern and eastern regions.
The recommendation for those who want to go out to vote in the morning is to follow the updated weather warnings before leaving home.
TRE monitors polling locations
Weather conditions are also monitored by the Justiça Eleitoral.
The Paraná Regional Electoral Court (TRE-PR), Simepar and Defesa Civil have organized a contingency plan to monitor situations that may affect polling places during the 2026 Elections.
Simepar has developed a specific system for monitoring the atmospheric conditions in the electoral zones. Meteorologists remain attentive to the weather conditions to issue alerts if risk situations are identified.
A Simepar professional will also be in person at TRE-PR this Sunday.
According to the president of the Court, Luciano Carrasco Falavinha Souza, the structure was prepared in advance to monitor any problems caused by the rains.
Monitoring allows TRE-PR and Defesa Civil to quickly assess situations involving heavy rainfall, flooding or other problems that may interfere with the functioning of the voting venues.
The elector must check the place before leaving.
In addition to weather conditions, the TRE-PR recommends that voters check their polling place before leaving home.
The consultation can be made by the e-Title application or by the electoral self-service services. Voting on Sunday takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Brasilia time.
In storm situations, the Defesa Civil guides you to avoid open areas, trees, poles and structures that can be hit by wind. In emergency situations, the phones are 199 for the Defesa Civil and 193 for the Fire Department.
As weather warnings can be updated throughout this Saturday and during Sunday, the guidance is to follow the official channels before the commute to vote.
