Paraná proposes salary adjustment for teachers with increase of up to 11.31%
The Paraná proposes a salary increase of up to 11.31% for teachers, with new hires and investment of R$ 17.5 billion in education.

The State Government of Paraná presented, on Monday (26), a proposal for salary adjustment that can benefit teachers of the state network with increases of up to 11.31% in some categories. This initiative aims not only to recognize the value of education professionals, but also to strengthen the teaching career in the state.
Currently, the lowest salary for teachers on a 40-hour journey will be R$ 6,600 for active servers, including gratifications and aids. This salary change represents a significant increase of up to R$ 500 compared to the national level, which is established at R$ 4,800.
The proposal includes the appointment of more than 3,400 teachers from the last public tender and provides for the additional hiring of 1,100 teachers from June this year. Thus, the state network has approximately 68,000 active and 40,000 inactive teachers, all covered by the new salary values.
Teachers who work 20 hours a week can accumulate extra lessons, receiving proportionately for the additional hours worked. For those at the top of the career, the total remuneration can exceed R$ 13,9 thousand when considering base salary, transportation aid and gratifications.
The new salary table will cover all classes and levels of the Own Framework of the Magisterium (QPM) and will replace the Single Staff Framework (QUP), which is in the process of extinction. The financial impact of this change on public coffers is estimated at about R$ 456 million annually.
In addition to wage valuation, Paraná stands out as a leader in education investment in Brazil. In 2024, more than R$ 17.5 billion were allocated to education, representing 32.28% of the state’s net tax revenue — the highest percentage among all Brazilian states. This financial commitment is aligned with a broad strategy of educational valuation as a fundamental pillar for regional development.
As a reflection of this consistent investment, Paraná leads nationally in the Educação Básica Development Index (Ideb), presenting the best results in both elementary education and ensino médio in the public and private spheres.
This year, the state also met a historic demand by allowing 2,000 teachers to increase their workloads from 20 to 40 hours per week. This action not only promotes greater financial stability for educators, but also aims to provide a more qualified education for students.
Finally, it should be noted that the Paraná maintains the largest exchange program between state networks in Brazil. By 2025, more than 1,200 students are expected to participate and an increase to about 2,000 exchange students by 2026. Recently, 75 students returned from Ireland full of enriching experiences. Another 525 students will embark in the second semester to Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Estados Unidos — this last destination reserved for one hundred students from Paraná’s agricultural schools in the first edition of the program “Winning the Agricultural World”.
