The PSD candidate for the Government of Paraná, Sandro Alex, highlighted on Tuesday (8) the results obtained by students of the state network in Pisa 2025 (International Student Assessment Program). According to data presented by the campaign, based on information from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and INEP, the Paraná achieved the best performance among Brazilian states in the four areas evaluated.

Paraná students remained in the national leadership in Science, Reading, Mathematics and Computational Problem Solving. In the comparison presented by the candidate, the averages obtained by Paraná were also above those recorded by different Latin American countries.

For Sandro Alex, the result demonstrates the effects of investments made in recent years in state education. “The Paraná has investment capacity and delivers results. It is a pride to see that all these resources for infrastructure, equipment, teaching tools and valuation of our teachers revert to concrete gains,” he said.

The candidate also related the result to the performance of the State in the Development Index of Educação Básica (Ideb). “After the conquest of Brazil’s best education at Ideb, we now have this surprise of appearing in front of the national average and the main South American countries at Pisa. It’s something we were looking for in the future, but it already fills us with pride in the present,” he said.

Paraná leads in the four areas assessed

About 1,100 students from 30 Paraná state colleges participated in the 2025 edition of Pisa. In Science, Paraná averaged 461.6 points. São Paulo appeared with 442.6 points and Santa Catarina with 430.6. The Brazilian average was 408.5 points.

In the international comparison cited by the campaign, Uruguay recorded 445 points and Chile 442. In Reading, the Paraná reached 458 points, again above the national average of 408 points. São Paulo got 433.7 points and Santa Catarina, 431.7. Chile and Uruguay had 436 and 423 points respectively.

In the Mathematics test, Paraná students reached 423.1 points, compared to the Brazilian average of 376.8. Uruguay scored 405 points and Chile 403. In Computational Problem Resolution, the Paraná reached 467.4 points, while the national average stood at 405.5. According to the figures released, Chile recorded 466 points and Uruguay 462.

Sandro assigns performance to state management

Sandro Alex stated that performance is a result of the educational policies implemented in Paraná in recent years and advocated continuity of actions. Leading the country in the four areas evaluated is a feat before our peers in Brazil, but also in the world,” he said.

According to the candidate, the training of students needs to follow the changes of the labor market and the technological development. “We are preparing young people for new professions, to interpret challenges and make decisions independently. Pisa is a reflection of eight years of a transformation made by the management of the PSD and that cannot stop,” he added.

What is Pisa

Coordinated by the OECD, Pisa has been carried out since 2000 and evaluates the knowledge and skills of approximately 15-year-old students. In the 2025 edition, more than 760,000 students from 91 countries participated in the evaluation. The sample represents approximately 33 million young people.

In addition to the tests, students and directors answer questionnaires that allow analyzing factors such as school environment, support of teachers and family members, availability of resources, pedagogical practices and attitudes of students towards learning.
