Paulo Grott Filho, attorney who built a four-decade story in Ponta Grossa, passes away

Paulo Grott Son died on Saturday (12), in Ponta Grossa, due to health complications. Lawyer and founder of Grott & amp; Grott, he leaves a history built over decades in the city, marked by the exercise of Law, by work and, above all, by the human relations that he cultivated during his trajectory.

Paul’s history in law began after a long career in the banking sector.

For about 30 years, he worked in a bank. When he left the activity, he used to remember that he carried a concern: he believed that he knew only “to play with money”.

It was then that a meeting helped to change the course of his life.

Lawyer Angelo Pilatti Junior encouraged Paulo to open an office and made himself available to help him in the first steps of the profession.

Graduated in law in 1973, Paulo began advocating in 1978. A few years later, in 1986, he founded the firm that would carry his name and that would become part of the history of the Ponta Grossa law firm.

A story built from scratch

The beginning was simple and marked by daily learning.

Paul did not hide that much of his practical training came from curiosity, questions and the willingness to seek answers.

When a new case emerged, he looked for colleagues, sought information and learned from the very routine of the profession.

That’s how, step by step, you built your space.

Over the years, that small office grew, gained structure and consolidated itself in the legal scene of the city.

What began with strong performance in Criminal Law has turned into a bank with presence in different areas of Law.

But for Paul, professional growth never seemed to be measured only by the size of the office.

Four decades dedicated to advocacy

The founding of the firm in 1986 marked the beginning of a trajectory that spanned different moments of Brazilian law.

Paul lived the profession at a time when processes were produced on typewriters, physical documents occupied entire archives, and the routine of the forums was completely different from the current one.

Decades later, it accompanied the arrival of computers, digitalization and the electronic process.

It was almost 50 years between his training in Law and the last years of professional performance.

Throughout this period, his name came to be associated with a history of continuity, experience and presence in the Ponta Grossa advocacy.

The legacy of Paulo Grott Son

When asked about everything he had built, Paul used to take the conversation away from titles, structures, or professional achievements.

He was talking about people.

In one of his accounts of the office’s history, he said he was happy to realize that he had helped create an environment where other people had jobs, especially at a time when many families were facing difficulties caused by unemployment.

The way he saw professional relationships was also recorded in a phrase that summarizes much of his personality:

“They are all my friends. None of them are my employees. I don't have an employee. My employee here is myself.”

The statement reveals a bit of the man behind the lawyer.

Paulo Grott Son built a trajectory that began with doubts, questions and willingness to learn and ended up transformed in decades of history in Law.

On Saturday, Ponta Grossa bids farewell to a lawyer who helped write a part of the city’s legal history.

It is the legacy of those who have built practically from scratch a trajectory marked by work, advocacy and the human way of seeing the people who have been around them.
