Pé-de-Meia Universitário will pay up to R$ 950 per month to low-income students in 2027
Pé-de-Meia Universitário is set to start in 2027 with up to R$ 950 monthly. The government also plans to expand the benefit to public high school education.

The University Half-Life is expected to start in 2027 and can guarantee up to R $ 950 per month in benefits for low-income students enrolled in public universities. The announcement was made on Wednesday (4) by the Minister of Education, Leonardo Barchini, during an interview with the program Bom Dia, Ministro, of Canal Gov.
The new modality will be aimed at students enrolled in the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (Cadúnico). The aim is to combat university evasion and offer financial conditions for students to remain in the courses until the completion of their degree.
The proposal may also benefit students of Ponta Grossa and Campos Gerais who meet the criteria established by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
University Half: see how much students can receive
According to the minister, the program is in the final phase of development and should have three financial incentive modalities:
Monthly scholarship of R$ 700: payment for ten months of the academic year, totaling R$ 7,000 per year.
Savings of R$ 250 per month: amount deposited for ten months per year, but that will be retained until the completion of the course.
Rescue of up to R$ 10,000: upon completion of a four-year degree, the student may withdraw the accumulated amount in the savings, plus the expected correction.
In practice, the benefit will have a total monthly value of R$ 950, with R$ 700 available directly to the student and R$ 250 reserved for the end of the degree.
According to Barchini, the program aims to ensure that access to the university is accompanied by conditions for the stay of students.
"Because access is one of the stages that this student wins, but staying is another equally difficult battle," the minister said.
The proposal still depends on the completion of the studies and the definition of the rules of implementation by the federal government.
Half-foot will be expanded to all students of the public ensino médio
Another change announced by the Ministry of Education is the prediction of the universalization of the Sock for students of the public network ensino médio.
Currently, the benefit is intended for students from families enrolled in Cadúnico who meet the criteria of the program. From March 2027, it is expected that all students of the public ensino médio will be able to receive the incentives, regardless of family income.
According to the minister, the measure seeks to eliminate differences between students of the same class, since currently some receive the aid and others are left out.
The MEC reported that it is working on the necessary studies to make the expansion feasible, whose implementation is scheduled for the beginning of the next academic year.
Program records reduction in school dropouts
Created in 2024, the main objective of the Midfielder is to encourage young people to stay in school and reduce the rates of evasion in the ensino médio.
According to data presented by the minister, between 2022 and 2025, Brazil recorded:
61% reduction in school dropout in the public ensino médio;
62% drop in reprobation;
28% decrease in age-series distortion, an indicator that measures school delay.
The percentages were presented by the ECM as positive results of the period of operation of the program.
Currently, the School Half-Life can guarantee up to R$ 9,200 per student, considering the incentives of enrolment, attendance, completion and participation in the National Examination of Ensino Médio (Enem), according to the established rules.
Between 2024 and 2026, the federal government allocated R$ 24 billion to the initiative, with a forecast of attendance to approximately 7.4 million low-income students.
With the expansion announced for 2027, the government intends to strengthen the financial incentive from the ensino médio to university education, reducing the economic difficulties that lead many students to abandon their studies.
