Pedestrian Identified Who Was Run Over on PR-151 in Castro

The victim of a hit-and-run in Castro, on the Campos Gerais, was identified by first name as Gerson, 53. The man died after being hit by a truck on Monday afternoon, on PR-151, on the stretch between Castro and Piraí do Sul.
The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m., at kilometer 288.7 of the highway. The identification of the victim brings new information about the occurrence, which mobilized relief teams and security forces during the afternoon.
So far, only the first name and age of the pedestrian have been reported. Other personal data of the victim have not been confirmed.
Remember how the crash happened
According to the information of the State Highway Police (PRE), the hitting involved a truck Scania R440, with plates of Joaquim Távora, which was traveling in the direction Castro-Piraí do Sul.
The vehicle was driven by a 37-year-old driver and was carrying a 36-year-old passenger. None of the occupants were injured, and both were given medical attention.
The circumstances that caused the crash have not yet been clarified by the authorities. The police report does not detail the dynamics of the occurrence.
Teams from the Mobile Emergency Service (Samu) and the Integrated Emergency Trauma Service (Siate) were called to provide relief. However, when the professionals arrived at the scene, the pedestrian was already dead.

The State Road Police were notified about the accident at 17:20, and a team arrived at the stretch at 17:56 to carry out the necessary care and procedures.
After the confirmation of the death, the Civil Police, the Criminalistics and the Medical-Legal Institute (IML) were triggered for the legal surveys and procedures.
The investigation should clarify the circumstances of the hitch, including the factors that contributed to the occurrence.
