The Federal Police (PF) denied the existence of a statement in which the former banker Daniel Vorcaro allegedly gave money to finance a documentary about President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a candidate for reelection. The information of the alleged testimony was given by the magazine Veja on Friday (9).

“The Federal Police clarifies, in relation to the report entitled ‘Vorcaro account that released money for film about Lula for business in the government’, published by the magazine Veja, on Friday (9/10), that Daniel Vorcaro did not give testimony with the content reported in the matter, nor did it give the institution attachments, documents or information with the content described there,” the corporation said in a note.

To Agência Brasil, the lawyer of the former banker, Daniel Bialski, said he had no knowledge of this alleged financing. He clarified that he was not at the forefront of Vorcaro’s defense when the proposals for collaboration were presented, but assured there was no new testimony to the PF or any other body dealing with the matter.

Bialski said he had no access to any documents proving such funding and noted that his client had never spoken to him about it.

Before the news of Veja, the Advocacia-Geral da União (AGU) will ask the publication for the right of reply and the correction of the information disclosed. The AGU understands that there has been “disclosure of information pointed out as untrue and seriously offensive to federal authorities.”

Fake news

The Prerogatives group, made up of lawyers from the progressive camp, asked the Federal Police to carry out an expertise in the audio also released by Veja, 16 days before the second round of the presidential elections, in which the former banker implicates Lula.

"There are suspicions that the recording was tampered with, through the assembly of excerpts or the use of artificial intelligence, in order to interfere in the second round of the presidential elections," the group said in a statement.

The Prerogatives adds that there is no information on when, where and under what circumstances the audio would have been recorded. In addition, he stated to the PF that he had received information that the audio would not be authentic or complete, “having been produced by assembling excerpts recorded in different contexts or by voice synthesis, with the purpose of interfering in the electoral process.”

The group also warns that, if fraud is proven, those responsible will be able to respond to the crimes of procedural fraud and electoral crimes related to the disclosure of information known to be false.

Dark Horse

The rumor resembles the episode of money given by Vorcaro to the senator and presidential candidate of the Republic Flávio Bolsonaro to help fund a film about his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Contrary to what is stated in the Veja article, Vorcaro’s help to Flavio was proven in an audio, revealed by the Intercept website in May of this year.

In the audio, the veracity of which was confirmed by Flávio Bolsonaro, the senator and presidential candidate himself asks for money to finance the film.

Expressing intimacy and friendship, Bolsonaro asks for help to avoid the default on the actors of the film, including the American actor Jim Caviezel, who plays the main character, and the director Cyrus Nowrasteh.

“It’s because it’s a very decisive moment here in the film and because there’s a lot of it going on, man, everybody’s tense and I’m worried about the effect here, contrary to what we dreamed of for the film, right? Imagine us knocking out a Jim Caviezel, a Cyrus, the most famous guys in American cinema, world cinema. It was going to be very bad, wasn’t it?” the senator said in September 2025.

According to PF, Flávio asked Vorcaro for R$ 131 million for the production of the film Dark Horse, of which R$ 60 million would have been paid.
