The director general of the Federal Police (PF), Andrei Rodrigues, confirmed on Sunday (25) that the body will investigate the attack against the councilor of Montes Claros (MG) Iara Pimentel (PT). According to Rodrigues, the parliamentarian attended this morning at the police station of the PF, in the city itself, to file a complaint of what had happened.

“Our police station was sought today by the victim, who was heard and reported the episode,” Rodrigues told reporters during a news conference.

According to him, there are images of the moment when the councilwoman was hit by an object thrown against the sound car in which she participated in a political act in support of the candidacy of the also petist Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Rodrigues classified the assault that injured the parliamentarian in the face as the occurrence “of greatest gravity” among those registered in this second round of the general elections.

Witnesses said the sound car in which Iara Pimentel and other people were in was the target of bottles, bricks and other objects thrown by supporters of his political opponents.

Touched in the face, Iara was treated by an ambulance of the Samu and left the site with her face bloody. In the hospital, she underwent tests, was medicated and was in observation for a few hours before receiving medical discharge.

In her social networks, the councilwoman said that political and gender violence, as well as hatred and intolerance are threats to democracy.

“We cannot naturalize or accept these attacks,” added Iara, who yesterday charged a rigorous investigation and the due accountability of those involved.
