Pink October Walk takes place this Saturday (24) in Ponta Grossa; see how to participate

Ponta Grossa hosts this Saturday (24) the Outubro Rosa 2026 Walk – Together for Prevention, an event that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of breast cancer. The mobilization will take place from 9 am, with concentration in front of the Acoustic Shell, in the Blue Point, in the central region of the city.

The initiative is promoted by Rede Massa, with support from Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Municipal Health Secretariat and the Social Assistance Foundation (FASPG). Participation is open to the community, and the organization invites residents to wear pink clothes in support of the campaign.

Walking will take place through the Center of Ponta Grossa

The route will start at the Acoustic Shell, will continue along the Coronel Cláudio Street promenade and will be closed at the corner of Terminal Central, where awareness activities will be concentrated.

During the event, participants will have access to health guidelines, information related to breast cancer prevention, educational activities and distribution of gifts.

The president of the Social Welfare Foundation of Ponta Grossa (FASPG), Tatyana Belo, highlights the importance of expanding access to information and encouraging women to prioritize care for their own health.

"The Outubro Rosa reminds us that taking care of yourself is also an act of love with those around us. When people take to the streets to talk about prevention, they reach women who often postpone their own tests because of routine, work and family care. Early diagnosis saves lives, and this message needs to reach all of us,” he says.

The partnership between the municipality and the organizers was articulated through the Social Seal Program. According to the articulator Marina Kostler, the mobilization is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, of the United Nations (UN), focused on health and well-being.

T-shirts are sold out, but the population can participate

The official Walking T-shirts Outubro Rosa are already sold out. However, those who have not been able to book a piece can normally attend the event, wearing any clothes in pink.

For participants who made the reservation in advance, the withdrawal of the shirts takes place on Thursday (22) and Friday (23), from 9 am to 2 pm, in the Colombo Stores, located at Avenida Doutor Vicente Machado, no 231, in the Center of Ponta Grossa.

To receive the T-shirt, it is necessary to deliver a package of geriatric diapers, which will be destined to the Ponta Grossa Women's Cancer Fighting Network.

According to Tatyana Belo, the collection reinforces the solidarity character of the walk, contributing directly to people facing cancer treatment.

"The donation of diapers transforms participation into a concrete gesture of solidarity with those who are facing treatment. It is prevention walking along with the reception,” he emphasizes.

Outubro Rosa reinforces importance of early diagnosis

Celebrated throughout the month of October, Outubro Rosa is an international breast cancer awareness campaign that seeks to encourage health care, breast recognition and access to diagnostic and treatment services.

Early identification of the disease increases the chances of less aggressive treatments and better results. Therefore, initiatives such as walking seek to bring the population closer to health services and expand knowledge about the disease.
