Piraí do Sul assists families affected by floods
In the urban area, floods reached homes in different regions of Piraí do Sul
The municipality of Piraí do Sul provides assistance to families affected by the floods recorded between October 23 and 25, after the volume of rainfall raised the level of the Piraí and Piraizinho rivers. According to data from Simepar, the accumulated in the period was between 100 and 140 millimeters.
In the urban area, the floods reached homes in different regions of the municipality. Among the affected localities are the Manoel Izidoro Garden, in the Gumercindo Sguário, Joana Rentz Mainardes and Luiz Izidoro streets; the Baixada neighborhood, in the Dr. Leite Ribeiro and Travessa Francisco Venante streets; the Jardim Benevenuto Dalcol, in the Junior streets of Souza Ribas, Honório Mueller and Oscarlina Castalina streets; and the neighborhood of Doeiro and Oscarlina Izinha.
The flood caused water to enter buildings and required the removal of residents from their homes, as well as the removal of furniture and belongings in some houses. Among those affected, 13 were referred to public shelter, while approximately 60 left their homes and sought temporary shelter with family or friends.
Since Saturday night, teams from the municipal secretariats and Defesa Civil are mobilized to assist families affected by the floods. The Secretariat of Social Assistance provides assistance to the host people, with the provision of food, accommodation, clothing and personal hygiene items and cleaning. The Department of Health has been accompanying the affected residents and offering support to verify their health conditions and meet the identified needs.
The Secretariat of Social Assistance will accompany the delivery of humanitarian assistance materials that will be sent by the state and federal governments. The distribution will be aimed at people in a situation of social vulnerability, according to the criteria established for care.
The municipality continues to check the needs of the affected families and to carry out the necessary referrals to provide assistance to the population and minimize the impacts caused by the floods.
