PM seizes about 2,000 packages of contraband cigarettes in a car
Security forces seized about 2,000 packages of contraband cigarettes during a stop in Paraná

An operation by the security forces ended with the seizure of approximately 2,000 packages of cigarettes smuggled on Thursday (1st), in Diamante do Norte, in the northwest of the Paraná.
The action counted on teams of the Military Police of Paraná (PMPR), through the 3rd Independent Military Police Company (CIPM) and the Border Police Battalion (BPFron), in addition to the support of the Federal Revenue, Federal Highway Police (PRF) and Military Police of Mato Grosso do Sul (MSX).
The truck was approached during the operation.
During the inspection work, officers identified a silver-colored Chevrolet S10 truck that was circulating in the region. The vehicle was approached and, according to the PM, was driven by a 19-year-old.
At the inspection, police found a large amount of cigarettes stored inside the car. According to the information released by the security forces, approximately 40 boxes of cigarettes of Paraguayan origin were counted, equivalent to about 2,000 packages.
Material was taken to Maringá
The driver was sent, along with the truck, the seized cargo and a cell phone, to the Federal Police Station in Maringá.
The case shall be the responsibility of the competent authorities, which shall follow up the procedures relating to the seizure and the alleged smuggling offence.
