Police arrest two suspects in a series of crimes in Sengés

An investigation into property crimes in Sengés, in the Campos Gerais do Paraná, resulted on Wednesday (7) in the pre-trial detention of two investigators during a joint operation of the Civil Police and the Municipal Guard.

The action was carried out in the early hours of the morning and aimed at complying with warrants for pretrial detention and search and apprehension issued by the Justice. According to the Civil Police of Paraná (PCPR), the investigation investigates crimes of aggravated robbery and qualified robbery registered in the municipality.

The teams were at two addresses related to the investigators. Both were located and arrested during the execution of the court orders. Cellular devices were also seized and should be analyzed during the investigation.

Theft helped direct investigation

One of the main starting points of the investigation was a robbery in September at a commercial establishment in Sengés.

At the time, according to police information, the perpetrators used violence and took approximately R$ 1,800 from the owner. The money would be used by the victim to pay bills.

From this case, the investigators began to analyze the possible relationship between the theft and other property crimes in Sengés previously registered in the same region of the city.

Among the cases investigated are three thefts committed in residences on August 3 and 14 and September 4.

In the properties, money, electronic equipment, personal items, jewelry, a firearm, an airsoft gun and other goods were taken.

Cameras helped police in the search.

During the diligence, the Civil Police analyzed images of security cameras installed near the places where the crimes took place.

According to the investigation, the recordings showed similarities in the dynamics used during different occurrences.

Another element considered important was the possible use of a pasture area and forest tracts as an access and escape route.

According to the police, the same region was used in some of the crimes investigated, indicating a possible geographical connection between the occurrences.

Diligence led to the investigators

In addition to the analysis of the images, the police conducted field surveys and cross-referenced information obtained during the diligences.

With the elements gathered, the Civil Police requested the issuance of search and seizure warrants and preventive detention against the investigators.

The measures were authorized and carried out on Wednesday with the support of the Municipal Guard of Sengés.

Cell phones seized during the operation should integrate the next stages of the investigation.

Police try to locate stolen property

The arrests do not close the investigations into property crimes in Sengés.

The Civil Police said it will continue to carry out diligence to clarify the participation of the investigators in the cases investigated, verify possible involvement in other occurrences and try to locate the objects taken from the victims.

The investigation should also proceed with the analysis of cell phones and other elements obtained during police work.

The two investigators remain at the disposal of the courts. The arrests are preventive and occurred during the investigation phase, without representing a definitive conviction.
