Three young Ponta Grossa athletes won outstanding results in the Brazilian Poomsae Championship, held last weekend, in São Paulo. Haylan Arthur Moreira Cavali, Kiara Martins Dubek and Nathan Luiz Beninca de Abreu represented Taekwondo Cavali, a member of the Furia team of Ponta Grossa, in a competition that brought together athletes from different regions of Brazil.

The main highlight was Haylan Arthur Moreira Cavali, 16, who won first place in his category in the Poomsae freestyle. The athlete also climbed to the top of the podium alongside 15-year-old Kiara Martins Dubek, with whom he won the title in the youth mixed doubles category.

Kiara also had an expressive participation in the individual disputes, securing the runner-up in his category. Nathan Luiz Beninca de Abreu, 15, debuted in the national competition and finished in the top ten in his individual category.

Young people of Ponta Grossa stand out on the national stage

Haylan’s conquest represents a special moment in his sporting trajectory. Red belt, the young man participated in the Brazilian Championship for the third time and has now achieved his most expressive result in the competition.

Kiara, also a red belt and a member of the youth category, competed in the championship in São Paulo for the second time. In this edition, he achieved his first outstanding results, with the individual runner-up and the Brazilian title in the mixed pair.

Nathan, a dark blue band, made his debut in the Brazilian Poomsae Championship. Even in front of high-level opponents, he managed to be among the top ten in his category, demonstrating potential for future competitions.

Social project contributes to the training of athletes

The three competitors have one trajectory in common: they started practicing taekwondo as children, through a social project in Ponta Grossa.

Currently, young people train in Arena Multiuso, within the core sport activities of Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa. The sports training has contributed to the technical development of the athletes and to the participation in state and national competitions.

The results obtained in São Paulo also demonstrate the importance of encouraging grassroots sports and the continuity of training for the formation of new talents.

Achievements reinforce Ponta Grossa taekwondo potential

The participation of the representatives of the Furia team in the Brazilian Poomsae Championship highlights the evolution of young athletes in a sport that requires technique, precision, balance and concentration.

Unlike traditional taekwondo fighting contests, Poomsae is a mode based on the execution of sequences of technical movements, evaluated according to performance criteria. In the freestyle category, the competitors present choreographies that combine techniques of the modality and acrobatic elements.

With two titles won by Haylan, one single and one in double with Kiara, in addition to the athlete’s individual runner-up and Nathan’s good debut, the delegation of Ponta Grossa ended their participation with important results.

The achievements reinforce the potential of athletes trained in social projects and show how dedication to training can open paths for recognition in national sport.
