The storm in Ponta Grossa puts the municipality in the spotlight on Thursday (1st). The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) has issued warnings of potential danger for storms, while the Simepar forecasts for the city gusts of wind that can reach 40 km/h.

The INMET meteorological warning is valid until 23:59 this Thursday and predicts the possibility of rain between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour or accumulated up to 50 millimeters throughout the day in the areas affected by the alert. There is also a forecast of intense winds, between 40 and 60 km/h, and the possibility of hailfall.

The alert is classified by the institute as of potential danger. According to INMET, there is a low risk of interruption in the supply of electricity, damage to plantations, fall of tree branches and flooding points.

Simepar predicts bursts of 40 km/h in Ponta Grossa

For Ponta Grossa, the forecast for Simepar indicates wind gusts of up to 40 km/h on Thursday. The specific forecast for the municipality also points to the possibility of high rainfall throughout the day.

The condition reinforces the need for attention especially during periods of greater instability. The intensity of rain and winds can vary between different regions of the city, and episodes of heavy rain can occur locally.

The Centro Oriental Paranaense, region where Ponta Grossa is located, appears among the areas covered by the weather warning.

Care during wind gusts

During periods of strong winds, INMET advises that the population avoids staying under trees, due to the risk of falling branches and electric shocks. It is also not recommended to park vehicles near transmission towers or advertising signs.

Another recommendation is to avoid the use of electronic devices connected to the outlet during storms.

In emergency situations, the population can contact Defesa Civil by phone 199 or the Fire Department by 193.

The alert is still valid during this Thursday. The guidance is to follow the updates of the meteorological organs, since the forecasts may undergo changes as the areas of instability advance.
