The Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa launched a new program to encourage women’s crafts, with the aim of strengthening Mothers’ Clubs and creating opportunities for empowerment and income generation for women in the municipality. The initiative, called the Women’s Artisan Entrepreneurship Club, aims to reach 45 regions of urban and rural areas by the end of 2026.

The launch took place last week during a meeting at the Hub Station, which brought together representatives of Mothers’ Clubs from over 40 Ponta Grossa regions. The program is coordinated by the Municipal Secretariat of Administration, through the Department of Community Affairs, in partnership with the Agency for Innovation and Development.

Mothers’ Clubs will receive kits and trainings

In the first stage of the project, the Mothers’ Clubs will receive kits with materials for handicrafts and manual works. The items will be distributed among the participants of the communities, allowing women to start or expand their activities.

In addition to the delivery of materials, the City Hall will promote courses and workshops focused on techniques such as crochet, sewing and other craft modalities. The proposal is to serve both women who already have experience and those who wish to learn a new activity.

The prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt highlighted the importance of Mothers’ Clubs for community development and the potential of crafts as an alternative to entrepreneurship.

“I have participated in many Mothers’ Clubs and I know how much the work of each of you makes a difference in your neighborhoods, in your regions. Therefore, we want to give opportunities to women who already like to do this type of work, and also to those who want to learn, transform this passion into entrepreneurship," she said.

The program will also support the marketing of products.

After the distribution of the kits and the realization of the first trainings, the program will advance to a second phase, led by the Innovation and Development Agency of Ponta Grossa.

At this stage, participants will have access to guidance on small business management, dissemination, entrepreneurship and marketing of manufactured products.

The intention is to offer tools for artisans to transform their skills into business opportunities, expanding family income possibilities and strengthening the economy in the neighborhoods.

“We know the importance that mother clubs play in communities. Therefore, in this second phase, the Innovation and Development Agency will support our artisans in this entrepreneurial journey, offering training and tools so that they can develop their businesses and expand their opportunities, "said the President of the Agency, Tônia Mansani.

With the initiative, the municipal administration seeks to enhance artisanal work, stimulate the financial autonomy of women and strengthen the role of Mothers’ Clubs as spaces for coexistence, learning and community development.
