Ponta Grossa will be the hub of a project that combines artificial intelligence and road safety

Ponta Grossa was defined as the pole of the initial implementation of Paraná Estrada Segura, a state project that brings together technology, public safety, supervision and road logistics. Decree No. 15.502, published in the Official State Gazette on Friday (23), establishes the directive to structure in the municipality the State Center for Transport, Tracking and Intelligence (CETRI).

The act sets up a working group to monitor and support the first steps of the project. In addition to Ponta Grossa, this stage contemplates the corridor associated with BR-277 and the integrations with the Port of Paranaguá.

The proposal provides for the articulation between public bodies to integrate systems, test applications and validate logistical models. The coordination will be with the State Secretariat for Innovation and Artificial Intelligence (SEIA), responsible for the management and technological integration of the project.

Participation of UEPG

The State University of Ponta Grossa is among the institutions that make up the working group. Also participating are representatives from the areas of public safety, farming, infrastructure, planning and agriculture, as well as DER/PR, Detran/PR, Celepar, Administration of the Ports of Paranaguá and Antonina, Adapar and Casa Civil.

The decree allows the creation of a technical chamber linked to the CETRI to act on the implementation, validation of algorithms and predictive tests. This structure should support the execution and evaluation of the initial step in Ponta Grossa.

The group may also invite representatives of federal and municipal bodies, concessionaires, experts and researchers to collaborate with the activities.

Artificial intelligence as support

According to the document, the use of analytical systems and artificial intelligence will have the character of supporting decision-making. Any administrative, police, operational or supervisory measures resulting from the alerts generated shall remain under the responsibility of the competent authorities of each body.

The sharing and processing of information must respect the General Data Protection Law, the tax secrecy and the legal attributions of the participating institutions. The membership of the organs will take place on a voluntary basis, by modules or applications of interest.

The working group will have a duration of 45 days, with the possibility of extension for an equal period. At the end of the activities, you should forward to Casa Civil a report with the results of the initial deployment.

The decree does not inform the address of the center in Ponta Grossa, the planned investment or the date of start of its operation. The publication formalizes the organization of this phase of the project and the guidelines for its implementation.
