Free buses will be available in Ponta Grossa during the second round of the 2026 elections on Sunday (25). Check the schedules and how it will work.

Residents of Ponta Grossa will be able to use public transport for free on Sunday (October 25th), during the second round of the 2026 elections. The measure was confirmed by the City Hall and ensures that passengers will not have to pay for tickets in the city’s buses and terminals, within the period established by municipal legislation.
The free service will be valid from 7am to 7pm, covering all lines of urban public transport. The initiative seeks to facilitate the movement of voters to the polling places and guarantee access to the ballot boxes.
The measure is provided for in Lei Municipal No. 14.585/2023, known as the Collective Transportation Law, which establishes the exemption from the tariff on election days.
Free buses on Ponta Grossa: how will it work?
According to the City Council, the legislation determines that public transport is free from one hour before the start of the vote and up to two hours after the closure.
As the voting time will be from 8 am to 5 pm, according to the calendar of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), the population will be able to use the buses without paying ticket for 12 hours.
Check the schedules:
From 7am to 7pm: free public transport on all lines and terminals.
Before 7:00 am: normal billing of the ticket.
After 7 pm: normal charging of the rate.
The exemption will be applied directly to the turnstiles of the buses and terminals, without charge during the specified period.
Will bus schedules change?
Despite the gratuity, the City Council informed that there will be no changes in the schedules or itineraries of the lines.
The buses will circulate according to the usual Sunday schedule, as happened in the first round of the elections, held on October 4.
Passengers should therefore be aware of the operating hours of the lines they use, especially those who want to leave early to vote.
Free access to the polls
According to the municipal administration, the purpose of the measure is to ensure that the cost of travel is not an obstacle to the exercise of voting.
The initiative also aims to contribute to the reduction of electoral abstention, especially among people who depend on public transport to get to the polling places.
The second round of the 2026 elections takes place this Sunday, October 25, with a vote from 8 am to 5 pm, by the time of Brasilia.
In Ponta Grossa, voters will therefore have free public transport throughout the voting period and for another two hours after the closure of the polls.
