Voters will have free transportation on election day in Ponta Grossa. The City has confirmed that there will be no ticket charge in buses and urban public transport terminals in the first round of the 2026 Elections, scheduled for Sunday, October 4. The free will also be maintained in a possible second round, scheduled for October 25.
According to the City Hall, public transport will be free from 7 am to 7 pm, covering all lines and terminals in the city. Outside of this period, the charging of the rate will occur normally.
Bus schedules will not change.
Despite the free service, the schedules of the lines will remain the same as on Sundays. Therefore, voters should be attentive to the schedule before leaving home.
The vote takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The municipal legislation stipulates that free transport is made available one hour before the start of the vote and remains available until two hours after the closure. Thus, in Ponta Grossa, the period without charge will be from 7am to 7pm.
Free is also determined by TSE
The measure adopted in Ponta Grossa is in line with the determinations of Justiça Eleitoral for Elections 2026.
According to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Resolution 23.751/2026 provides for the free offer of urban and intermunicipal collective transport in the first round, on October 4, and in a possible second round, on October 25.
The TSE also determined that, in urban areas, the service is offered with adequate frequency to allow the movement of voters to the polling places.
On Monday (28), the president of TSE, Minister Kassio Nunes Marques, sent a letter to the Regional Electoral Courts (TREs) of the whole country requesting information on the measures taken to guarantee the gratuitousness.
The courts must verify that the municipalities and state governments have correctly informed the itineraries, schedules and modes of transport that will be available on the day of the vote.

On election Sunday, the system will work as follows:
Date: 4 October 2026;
Free transportation: from 7 am to 7 pm;
Scope: all Ponta Grossa lines and terminals;
Bus schedules: normal Sunday table;
Before 7 am and after 7 pm: normal billing of the ticket;
Second round: if it occurs, the free will also be offered on October 25.
The proposal is to facilitate the displacement of the population and avoid that the cost of transport is an obstacle to attendance at the polls.
