Ponta Grossa will host the Quantum Week 2027
Ponta Grossa will host the Quantum Week 2027, from May 17 to 21, bringing together researchers and companies to discuss quantum technologies.

Ponta Grossa will host Quantum Week 2027, an event aimed at the development of quantum technologies that will take place between May 17 and 21, at Hub Station. The meeting is part of an articulation to transform the municipality into a center of research, innovation and technological development in Paraná.
On Thursday (5), Prefeitura de Ponta Grossa, through the Innovation and Development Agency, participated in the first meeting of the working group responsible for discussing the creation of a cluster of quantum technologies in the city.
The initiative brings together the Ponta Grossa State University (UEPG), the Federal Technology University of Paraná (UTFPR), the Commercial, Industrial and Business Association of Ponta Grossa (ACIPG), the Technology and Innovation Association of Ponta Grossa and the Synapse Institute.
The event will have five days of programming.
After two editions held in Curitiba, Quantum Week will arrive at Ponta Grossa with a schedule extended from three to five days.
The event will feature lectures, mini-courses, round tables and demonstrations of technologies developed by companies in the sector.
For the first time, there will also be space for presentation of academic papers and innovation reports. The selected materials will be published in two volumes with ISBN, through a partner publisher.
According to Professor Ricardo Fernandes da Silva, from UTFPR, the holding of the event at Ponta Grossa represents an opportunity to expand scientific partnerships.
“Quantum Week was born to bring together those who work with quantum technologies in Brazil. The first two editions have already generated master’s and doctoral guidelines and new partnerships between institutions, and taking the event to Ponta Grossa extends this scope,” he emphasizes.
UEPG Supercomputer Drives Research
One of the factors that strengthen Ponta Grossa’s candidacy as a pole of quantum technologies is the forecast of the installation of the largest high-performance supercomputer (HPC) of the state network in the data center of UEPG.
The equipment, expected to arrive in the first half of 2027, will be able to perform quantum simulations, expanding the possibilities of scientific research and development of new technological solutions.
“We have been working with HPC on the Paraná since 2021 and now we start to reap the result, with the structures deployed. The quantum simulator opens up a new field of research for UEPG,” explains Luiz Gustavo Barros, director of the University’s Information Technology Core.
Municipality seeks to attract investments
For prefeita Elizabeth Schmidt, the articulation between educational institutions, companies and public authorities strengthens the economic and technological development opportunities of the city.
"Ponta Grossa has built an environment conducive to innovation, bringing together educational institutions, businesses and public power. The discussion on quantum technologies represents an opportunity to attract knowledge, research and investments, strengthening our municipality as a reference in innovation and technological development," he says.
The president of the Innovation and Development Agency and municipal secretary of Industry, Commerce and Professional Qualification, Tônia Mansani, highlights the importance of the Vale dos Rails ecosystem in this process.
According to her, the existing structure in the municipality favors the attraction of new projects and investments in advanced technological areas.
The business sector also participates in the initiative. ACIPG expressed interest in providing space to support the activities of the working group.
For João Marcos Moretti Pellissari, director of Technology and Innovation of the entity, the proposal represents an opportunity to generate business and expand professional qualification.
"The business sector of Ponta Grossa wants to be together from the beginning. Quantum technology is an opportunity to position the city, generate business and qualify our professionals," he says.
Quantum Week 2027 will be held at the Hub Station, a space that integrates the Vale dos Rails ecosystem and brings together initiatives aimed at entrepreneurship, technology and innovation in Ponta Grossa.
